Can someone explain how come most congresspeople / senators will vote for this crap ? I would have thought almost all Americans were actually loving their freedom, and their representatives love it as well. Why is this text so much unopposed ?

I love how the Republican party wants to spread freedom to other countries, but restricts it domestically. And shame on the spineless Democrats that don't stand up against this crap. They're just as bad as the Reps.To us, it is the BEAST.Comment

Now as for weather the law is crap or not, I don't see it as being substantively worse than the Prevention of terrorism act and the like passed by Parliament in the UK. MTG, I know you have stated that due process must be involved in the execution of most of the Patriot act provisions. This does not make me feel safer. If due process could be executed to remove the rights of free speech for thousands at a time would you feel safe?(just a what if.)

The Patriot Act isn't any worse than the anti-terrorism laws that France has had for years. You would never know that from cruising Poly, however...
