I also loved this one piece on PBS' The News Hour when they had a segement prewar about the string of municipalities passing statements against the war. They focused on this small Oegon twon, and during the discussion the president of the City Council, who opposed the anti-war resolution, stated that "it had been found that many of the hijackers came from Iraq"

So fine, a few stupid people; there are people going to anti-war protests wearing tinfoil, do you think they speak for a majority of protesters?

as i have this silly idea that the daily life of the average afgan has changed much (if he didnt die by a bomb with OBL's name on), those billions dont actually matter much

Well, I for one would totally agree that the reconstruction of Afghanistan is a UN problem. The problem was not caused by the US alone, but by warfare in that country for 22 straight years. Much of the warfare was supported or incented from abroad. The victims of he warfare, though, are the people of Afghanistan. Afghanistan should be the prototype UN resonstruction effort.
