  • I "stole" his girl...

OK, story time. This is a long story, so if you don't want to hear too much boring stuff, skip to the "summary" of the first paragraphs, and read from there. Lastly, for anyone who doesn't know, every character in this story, including myself, is 14.

I am good friends with a girl at my school, Katie. I have been romantically interested in her to some degree, but for various reasons I never pursued it. I came very close, but for one thing, she had another guy chasing after her. I could have beaten him easily (I'm not Tom Cruise, but this guy was a dork) but I didn't really want that pressure. Secondly, if it didn't work out, I'd lose a great friend. For those reasons I never brought myself to the point of no return, if you know what I mean.

It was at Katie's birthday that the important part of the story occured. I'd heard about Katie's best friend, Suzy, a lot, but never met her until this party. When I saw her, my first impression was . Apparently a lot of other guys felt the same way. Particularly an Italian guy, Gianni, who has a tendency to be melodramatic. Word got out and people started joking with him, trying to embarass him, etc. All that juvenile stuff. But before he could really begin hitting on her, Katie introduced her to me.

It was pretty much at first sight and all that stuff. She was really cool. Just like Katie except hotter, closer to my age, and not already in the "friend" category. We danced and talked and all that. She said that she really didn't like Gianni, but she didn't have the heart to tell him.

In addition, one of my rivals from the group I call the "crackhead crowd" (this is a group of lacrosse players who enjoy acting weird) decides to make things embarassing for me. I don't like having attention drawn to myself, so naturally he makes an announcement about me and Suzy, saying that we're dating. (Which isn't true as of then, but probably will be eventually.) We are sitting together on a windowsill in a corner and obviously don't want the attention, if you catch my drift.

    Summary:
I beat Gianni, a melodramatic Italian guy, to a girl fair and square. Pretty much everyone knows about it. (Read the above paragraph if you want to know why)

Gianni acts like I've betrayed him. He spews propaganda against me, (and remember that I'm a very high profile person right now) saying I "stole" her. He still is talking about her. He thinks he still has a chance with her, when he never did. However I can't say that because it just looks like I'm defending my girl. He's attacking me passive-aggressively. He uses poems about betrayal by friends in his IM away messages.

There are some major problems with this. We share a lot of friends so I can't be mean without pissing them off. I'd also rather be friendly with him than not. I also don't want him to spread propaganda and give me a bad rep for months on end. Lastly, if passive-aggressiveness becomes aggressive aggressiveness, I'm ****ed. He's literally 8 inches taller than me.

Is there any way of resolving this peacefully? Or do I have to be an *******? Also any other generic advice please? But mainly how to deal with Gianni is the big question.

    Thanks in advance.

Poems about betrayal by friends in IM away messages is gay. He's clearly just trying to make everyone think he's straight by supposedly being pressed over Suzy. Just point out to your friends the poetry and they'll realize that really he wanted you all along and Suzy is just a red herring.

Even if he isn't gay, calling a guy a homosexual in eighth grade is an excellent way to deflect criticism.

And why the hell does everybody in Lower MoCo have to be such a goddamn drama queen? God bless you Jag, for more or less bucking such an awful terrible trend.

Yes, I was thinking this as well. The poetry business is very odd.

Either make a note of it to your friends or wait til it blows over.

      Edit: typo

Holy ****! You pick up on things! He acts gay all the time, I just didn't bring it up because I didn't feel that it was relevant. Pretty amazing.

This guy sounds like half the jocks I went to high school with, most of whom turned out to be gay. They were strange acting soccer players, not lacrosse, but they sound very similar.

What the ****? Are you suggesting that he spread rumors that this Gianni creep is gay? What kind of ******* would do a thing like that?

Or maybe he is just that way, and isn;t gay at all..hmm, what a strange idea, that men may act in more than one way...

No, couldn't possibly be that, now could it.

Hmmmmm....it could be that he is writing these poems to seem like the romantic type. Full of passion and what-not, instead of everyone's supposed "gay theory". If this guy is creating these poems to seem romantic, it's a risky move. One of his motives may be for this girl to hear about his poems and make her feel some type of emotion (i don't know what, tho).

For the whole propaganda thing, you could just be nice to him and appear that his rumor's aren't bothering you. People are funny in that they sometimes wait to see the reaction of the accused, and then make judgments. I would recommend you to not do anything...but if things escalate, you might want to have a sit-down with him and your mutual friends to discuss all the B.S. that's been flying around.

If this guy is spreading around nasty poetry, then subconsciously he wants to be outed.

If he's straight, then I say he has it coming.

Bring the poetry up to your friends and see what they think. Don't mention homosexuality, just have them think about the poetry. My guess is that they're thinking the same thing as you.

Wow, this turned into a flamefest fast! And I've never seen Boris curse twice in a post!

Felch's response was out of line, but I'm sure he didn't mean it to be serious.

I don't need to spread rumors that he is gay, nor would I. It is somewhat self-evident, plus it's obnoxious to say someone's gay and act like that's a horrible thing, plus that wouldn't work because being gay is accepted at my school. (Probably has something to do with the fact that one of the cooler teachers is gay.)

And since we're OT anyway, I know that Boris Godunov is the name of some novel somewhere, but I don't remember what it's about or who wrote it. Enlighten me.

Anyway, back to the topic: should I be an ******* or can I resolve this in an easier way, or should I ignore it.

I say ignore it and just let it run its course. If she likes you and not him, all the poetry in the world isn't going change that.

                            I did, FC.

It cracks me up that someone rated this one star. What, exactly, is 1 star deserving? Did I tell the story badly? Was it the random gay flamefest? Is it Gianni secretly posting here?
