The law was almost written for this guy. It allows UK citizenship to be revoked from people with dual nationality (and therefore another country to go to). There aren't that many "undesirables" it will ever apply to.
Apparently Hamza's lawyers are trying to argue he doesn't hold Egyptian citizenship so this law can't be used. This one has a way to run yet.

I think the view is taken that persecution due to ploitical or religious views is never justified.

In York, some of the "students against war" complained about rough police treatment after three of them (deservedly) got arrested during one of their protests (FYI, they were lying in the middle of one of the busiest roads in the city).
