I'll have you know Mary (B*tch Kitty from Hell(tm)) has tangled with a buzzard and won.
He had a "special" upbringing as a stray street kitten who had to scramble for food against other, much larger cats and dogs. I inherited him from LTEC! before we got married, since I'm the feral cat rehab specialist, and he earned the name with a scene right out of the first Jurasic Park movie. He was all of maybe one pound and 12 weeks or so old, had to work at climbing stairs one at a time, and when he got to my place, he intimidated two large adult cats so badly they finally ended up on top of my bed, in the middle, back to back, eyes wide in terror as this little thing kept trying to jump up to the bed to kill them. He figured they were a challenge to his access to food and shelter, so they had to be eliminated, sucks to be you.
Later on, when he was full size, he demonstrated his fighting technique on another of our cats who made the mistake of making eye contact for a fraction of a second through a plastic cat door. Velociraptor charged through the cat door, head lowered, head-butted the other cat (who outweighed him 2.5 to 1) at the base of the throat with such speed that he literally flipped the other cat on his back with Velociraptor on top, teeth at the the other cat's throat.
None of this hiss and yowl and pawslap bull**** - total time from eye contact to positioned to kill was less than a second. Luckily, I was moving to intercept before it ever got started, but Boris, the other cat (and the rest of the cats who saw this) were traumatized for weeks afterwards.
Recently, we started giving Velociraptor brief periods of (closely) supervised release with the cats and dogs, but this is after over three years of being confined separately. When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. MtG: what you have there is a killing machine, not a pet
but if an animal is going to be that aggresive, better a ten pound cat (what is he, 10-15 pounds?) than a 100 lb killer dog. I have never ehard of an adult killed by a cat.
I still prefer dogs. My Scotty, while a prima dona, is just too cute.If you don't like reality, change it! me

Actually, he's always been pretty lean - never more than eight pounds, and about six currently. Now he's a bit skinny, but when he was filled out, he was the only "ripped" "domestic" cat I've ever seen. He's much more like a one-tenth scale panther in build.
He has a very fast metabolism, so you really have to keep him stuffed to get him maintaining his weight.
He's actually a real sweetie, but his reaction to other animals is a direct result of the "bottom of the feeding chain" abuse he got as a very young feral stray kitten, who was extremely lucky (or just exceptionally fierce) to be able to survive in his earliest environment. He had his tail broken, and had to compete for food scraps in a city filled with strays, especially stray dogs.
Here he is in a playful mode:When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. "You're fired." "I quit."

My aunt has a mixed Rottweiler, Doberman dog: beautiful animal, with the look of a roTtweiler that had been streamlined. very playfull too, but she weighted 100lb in three months. I have seen women in this city with Great Danes half as tall as them or more. Thank god they are generally well tempered cause even a strong man would have trouble keeping such an animal in line.
I have had cats, but I still value dogs more. Our scotty has become obsessed with squirrels, and is learning new trick every day in her perpetual dream of catching one. She won;t, really, but she tries real hard.If you don't like reality, change it! me

I've learned the hard way (with a very sweet Doberman) long ago that you only keep a 100 lb dog in line to the extent it will let you.
I like both, they both have their distinct personalities, but cats are lower maintenance on a per pound basis or on a per animal basis. We had two dogs and eight cats in the old house (three came with the house) with them living in three different areas.
Now we have the dogs and five cats all together, except Velociraptor is caged separately, but with a view and limited contact with the others. His behavior on supervised release has been anything but aggressive, but he gets stressed out once he's crowded by several of the other dogs or cats.
For balance, here's Pinky and the Brain. (Pinky is the street mutt we captured, Brain's the purebred mini-Schnauzer. Guess which is the troublemaker?)

animals suck, in general. stinkier than little kids, harder to care for than your toys (car, computer, etc.), noisier than your neighbor, and another bloody mouth to feed.
the only good cat is a bonzai kitten, and the only good dog is one that's plastered on the street.

Cats, for sure. Because dogs grovel, they seem more like servants than companions (to me anyway). But I should admit that I had a dog when I was a kid, and I was very fond of her.

I gotta say Cats.
My old cat, Satch, was soo like me. She was a sketch-addict. Any little sound would startle her. Someone walking up the driveway would make her take off into my neighbors yard.
No other animal has ever had the same personality as myself. Cats kick a** but a man with a dog attract's more honeys.Despot-(1a) : a ruler with absolute power and authority (1b) : a person exercising power tyrannically
