I concur Ras. I joined The Planetary Society (gave them a donation) after I got involved with SETI@Home. The Planetary Society does have some good reading/links.

Solver: I have not visited the Mars Society yet - hopefully I can get to it next week. Thanks for the heads-up.

I was browsing the web-site for SETI@Home, and decided to take a look at group statistics. I saw this category called Universities, and decided to take a look at that list to see if my college had a group of its own. It turned out, that the college as a whole doesn't, but there is a separate group for each dorm building. But the most hilarious thing came when I took a look at the numbers: while all the dorms groups have between 0 and 1 members, the group for my building has... 13! I guess they dump all the geeks in here.

So, how many computers do you run that thing on, if its not a secret?

            seven.

            p400 laptop + ??? ram
            AMD 550 MHz Athlon + 384mb ram
            AMD 2.4 GHz + 512mb RAM
            AMD 1.4 GHz + 512mb RAM
            pentium 3 700 MHz + ??? ram
            pentium 2 333 MHz + ??? ram
            pentium 133 MHz + 48mb RAM

I could throw another pentium 2 333 MHz and an amd k6-2 333MHz onto the pile if need be...

I don't think my Tandy 486, the IBM 386, and the torn apart pacard bell pentium 133 can do much in the way of SETI.

I guess I'm doing pretty good then with only running SETI on one computer.

Awesome, Sturmovik is now processing data units 24/7, so I have processed over 10 data units since Friday afternoon.

Yes, I made the same type on comment earlier Darth. Of course, he was joking and he has since joined the Apolyton SETI@home effort.

                        Edit: Thanks Ras.

Oops, I stand corrected - not SETI effort, but rather SETI@Home effort.
