only reason I do it in job interview is because I know Im supposed to. Thats what they are looking for.
Even old time friends I spend more than half the time staring out the window while talking. Theyre used to it so they know that its a normal thing.
I know exactly what you mean. I don't know what it is, but I really have to force myself to look someone to the eyes if I want it to last more than one second.

I don't look people in the eye to often either. In the case of job interviews I always look them straight in the mouth.
ACK!
wow pretty close. I use the nose. But sometimes I let a lil smirk. I just hope that the employer things its a smile instead and Im trying to look friendly.
Wow, you guys are starting to make me feel weird. I look people in the eye constantly; people have told me that it feels like I'm looking right through them. Am I a freak?
KH FOR OWNER! ASHER FOR CEO!! GUYNEMER FOR OT MOD!!!
I also have weird self control, I never usually reveal what I think with any facial expressions or body language. If I start explaining something, I use lots of body language and my face, but if it's just normal talking, I never reveal my thoughts, I don't know why!?
I don't even think about it, I just do it everytime. It's great if I have to lie or not to tell a secret, but I get that a lot too 'I didn't know you thought/wanted/etc..'.

I don't know whether it gives me power, but it is unique.

i guess we're just emotionally repressed when we were child type?
Well I dont talk completely like a Ben stein.. but I think I understadn what ur trying to say.
Drake, So you're in the right thread! Hmm... we both quote the same guy, coincidence?
We are the eye people. We make people feel uncomfortable with our eyes, with different methods though.
People get frustrated sometimes if they explain me something and I look at them and they know I really am listening them and thinking what they're saying, but I don't give any tips or hints what I'm thinking about it. Then they go 'don't do that' 'do what?' I say... I don't give them blank stare, just that.. I have a nasty habit of not letting anyone know what I really think about it.
I once saw a documentary about interrogation and they told what gives people off and what they are looking for, so I thought about it and played with the idea to not be too easy, but's it's not fun anymore .

Actually I make myself uncomfortable with the eye contact. its for my sake that I avoid looking. It just so happens that people tell me when i do make contact, they feel like im looking right thru them.
I can feel my neck turning whenever I make eye contact. Fourtunately for me I trained myself to resist the urge whenever I need to keep looking. (interview, whenever im angry and i wanna freak someone)
CalcII, Nah I don't think I was. I was very lively kid. But, I have become more like this when I have got older.
It's stupid but I can't help myself, I try to look at people when they speak and figure out if they're lying or not, and how they're doing their talking, their little habits, facial expressions, tones, I try to register everything. Like a game, it's a game I like to play with myself, I just do it quite often then it would be healthy .
I try to figure people out, I don't care what they're saying so much as of how they're saying it, and what kind of body language they use, like not being able to hear sometimes and just focus on the rest of it really closely. Then I like to watch other people how they react to someones speech what ever, figure them out at the same time, but not revealing my game and openly staring people with interest in my eyes. This game has downsides too, I sometimes end up not liking someone for some reason. I just don't like them after close inspection of theri methods of communicating and being themselves. These are of course mostly strangers or acquintances.
Also I find it fascinating that some of my long time close buddies have changed some of their repeating patterns in body language or acting. Just little stuff. I don't play this game with them too mcuh though, because I actually want to listen to them too and participate in conversations
I try to find some connection with other things in body langauge and communicating and everything, like if someone uses pattern x often, it means he's lying, or that he will soon be changing into pattern y or so. It's rewarding when it succeeds!

However, I am attractive to women, don't ask me why. I often have women fawn over me.

I have the ability to win at odds/evens, rock-paper-scissors or other such games a disproportionate amount of the time. The better acquainted I am with the person I'm playing against, the better I do.
I drive my girlfriend crazy. The last time we played I was 50/50 for the first 6 goes, and I then got the next 20 in a row.

well i dont do that. I can never tell if someone is lying or not by just looking. I can tell by choice of their words however, so if the person is extremly prepared to lie, then they might pass my lie detector.
My strange behavior does have its benefit as well. Some people are drawn by it. My last ex-girlfriend was drawn into my weird habits. she found me interesting because she thought I was thinking deep thoughts when i wasnt making eye contacts with her.
