I stopped eating meat about 6 months ago. I don't regard myself as a veggie and anyone who suggests it will be missing a few teeth very quickly. I do eat a lot of fish, quite a lot of nuts and some fruit. I actually loathe most green vegetables and always have (for the last 40 something years).

The reason I stopped eating meat was simply that all the garbage they inject into the animals was making me very bad tempered and aggressive. I did like the taste of meat but after about a month without it the extreme moods calmed down and I feel a lot better. It is a bit of an effort to manage a varied diet but I would not go back to eating meat now.

I'm no expert, but bananas are fruits with more than one seed. Therefore, they are berries. Weird!

Yup. We probably lived mainly on vegetables and insects, but I bet we never passed up good meat when it arrived.
You can easily get all the essential amino acids from a vegetarian diet from combining various plants, nuts, and dairy food. Same with calcium.

I work out almost every day on a 90% vegetarian and never feel I'm lacking protein. If so, I'll do a MetreX or other supplement.

I am a proud Omnivore. I agree that there are great, great dishes that use no animals in thier making...but there are also great dishes that do use animal.

Also, ebign form latin America, the Vegeterian option is almost unknown. No deep fired (in lard) pork skins? No Parridalla (Argentine specialty...every cut of meat, suasege and orgn meat you can think of, all cooked together....)

My friend Jayne is a vegetarian and someties the thought of eating animal flesh repulses me - but avoiding products with gelatin in is waaaay too expensive and if I were going to do it, I'd do it properly.

My mum announced that she's been vegetarian for a coupla months when I got back home from uni the other day - her face fell when I showed her the pills she's been taking have gelatin in

I don't mind meat eating, it is just that I think that mammals and birds should be Euthanized before being buchered; you wouldn't want to be executed by sliting your throat would you?

Aside from a weakness for bacon, I'm 95% veggie. I'll have a steak if I get a real craving, but for the most part I just don't have much interest in eating meat.

I'd miss chicken and sausages. Esp. BBQ chicken.

                    Damn, I'm hungry.

Not really - there is a near infinite variety either way, and being vegetarian doesn't mean you have to have a less varied diety.

And the second quoted sentence makes absolutely no sense whatsover. Being omnivorous doesn't prevent you from eating the "more different vegetables", nor is it a reason to be a veggie.
I didn't say it prevents you from doing so, I was saying that meat makes up a very small portion of the food available to an average human.

I eat at least one serving of meat a day. Often 2.

EDIT: after reading how much counts as a serving of meat, I have to change this to 3-5 servings in the average day....

Unless you strictly buy free range products, very little to none of the meat you buy comes from ranches - it comes from factory farms.

Have you also visited a meat packing factory?

Then you haven't stopped eating meat. I'll never understand people who think fish isn't meat.

Yeah, gelatin is a *****. I don't think most vegetarians bother with that, though - only strict vegans would avoid it completely. But I do avoid it when possible.

As for my opinion, meat is way too unhealthy AND expensive when compared to the taste. I'll eat it, if offered somewhere free, though.

There's a hell of alot more different vegtebles and fruits then there are meats, anyways.
True, but there is no beef vegetable or bacon vegetable. Meat is good.
