Tass - seriously I have/had the same problem as you. I didn't really realize it was a problem (not like I've ever lived any other way) but knew something was off and talked to a professional. I'm now taking one Paxil pill a day and it makes a HUGE difference. You said you've been on the meds about a week - when I got mine they told me that it would take a couple of weeks to kick in.

It's great now. I don't obsess over what I should have said or what I want to say; I don't make sure everything ends up in a pattern (1001 for me); I still do homework but I don't spend all my waking time obsessing over how I won't get it done in time.

                  My life is significantly improved.

                        Two things work for me.

                        1) Ride my bike to work every day. Regular exercise turns me from negative to near-positive.
                        2) If I get worked up, I meditate: Just pick a sound/word to chant in your head, then relax and shut your eyes for 10-20 minutes. Begin chanting silently to yourself (in rhythm with breathing or, better, heartbeat). Whenever a thought surfaces, let it go and focus on nothing but the word you are chanting.

Even though I do it badly and rarely, it makes me feel at ease whenever I use it. It has nothing to do with religion or cults or anything like that.

What you are on is fine, but I would recomend staying away from drugs like Paxil and Prozac. That is unless you don't like who you are. If you don't like yourself, then takem. Your OCD will go away but you will be a different person

Donegal - I'm on Paxil, and yet I'm remarkably still the same person (albeit I don't obsess), obviously what you said is either 1)an exaggeration 2)an outright lie

You may have also had experience with people taking for a reason other than me - I apparently have Dysthymia and Paxil helps immeasurably.

                                I have both.

When you walk.....do you feel as if you HAVE to step in the lines between the cracks or else something terrible will happen?

If yes : You may have OCD.

                                If no: You probably don't.
