Nevs: It seems many believe this kind of crap. It is an accepted phrase in the US that the army "defends our freedom".

What a crap!
May this war end quickly and with little loss of life.
Your moronic president just buried the security system humanity created after WW2 to prevent future bloodbathes. March 20 will be remembered as the beggining of new age of suffer. Hell knows how many lives this war will cost to humanity.
And hopefullyit will bring about a better world, particularily for the Iraqi people

So it's all crap, isn't it?
Must hold tongue...
Yes, those Iraqi villains really threatened our freedom!!!
Also I wonder what your definition of freedom is: Is it, the freedom to dominate the rest of the world, to wage war whenever it suits you and to act in an unilateralist way, doing whatever you like, not taking into account other countries' opinions and arguments?
You know the ancient Greeks fought the Persians in order to keep their freedom, but you have to know that it was one of the rare occasions they united (more or less, because there were Greek forces in the Persians' army), they preferred to battle eachother... And that is their definition of freedom: Being free to wage war against eachother (the Greeks were a very warlike group of tribes/city states!!) instead of being under the rule of a foreign empire such as the Persian one.

Hmm I agree that there will be many unnecessary casualties, but several hundred thousand is a bit much... You'd be bombing Iraq with some serious napalm to kill that amount of people... of course, much depends on how the Iraqi are going to defend themselves..."An archaeologist is the best husband a women can have; the older she gets, the more interested he is in her." - Agatha Christie
