  • How do I get out of paying state and local ta(x)es?

Actually I meant for the thread title to read state and federal tax. Oh well.

I had to use the parenthesis to throw off goverment computers that scan web pages . I'm not paranoid, just cautious

OK so they read off our state budjet on a radio show the other day. Granted it was a conservative show. But how biased can reading the dollar amount for goverment agencies from a printout be?

Basically my state has a bunch of useless programs that I never knew existed. Many of these agencies do the same job as other agencies.

It's enough to drive you insane.

I'm not a conservative mind you, I'm more of a libertarian.

I want people to take care of themselves, not the goverment. Unless you are disabled and cannot work, you should not be getting any money from the goverment.

Actually my state doesn't have state tax. Tax money is collected from other things like gasoline taxes (which mainly go for roads- I have no problem with that as I use the roads everyday), sales tax (which has skyrocketed the last 20 years), gaming tax (I have no problem with this one), and other taxes I am unaware of.

You used to be able to buy online to avoid state sales tax, but I think companies are voluntarily charging state taxes now.

What scares me is what goverment programs I'm paying for . I think the federal goverment should do the job it was intended to back in the 18th century. Mainly national defense. I have no problem giving my tax dollars to support a military. And I have no problem paying the saliries of politicians. But all these goverment programs drive me crazy.

I could move to another country. But what country has a tax rate lower than the U.S.?

P.S. note to IRS. I have always payed my taxes in the past. Please don't audit me . I could pass an audit of course, I just don't want the trouble. I keep terrible records.

You don't get out of it unless you move to a state that doesn't have them. Try Alaska.

Lets put it this way, Diss. Two things in this life are certain -- but they're working on that 'death' business.

The True Geek plural is "taxen" and we gladly pay them. One of those dollars might be what's needed to give a computer to the next Dijkstra or Ramanujan.

You don't want to pay taxes? then don't touch most roads, don't call the police when you are robbed, etc.

I've heard things like if you are a small time business owner you can cut a lot off of your taxes by claiming expenditures. I'm not sure if you can COMPLETELY eliminate paying all taxes though.

The lifeblood of the state is taxes.

                I'll work on that.

Again I have no problem with gasoline taxes. I use the roads everyday.

I think we should be able to pick and choose where our tax dollars go. NationStates had an issue with that solution. Not very feasible, but I would support it. I have no problem supporting the roads and the politician salaries. But I am against supporint these uselss programs that our state and federal goverment run.

And don't get me started on the war on drugs. I would support treatment centers though. But military action in columbia is just stupid.

What I'm mainly concerned about is sales tax. I may go to Mexico to buy all my goods. How high are the taxes down there?

Yeah, schoolchildren should pay for their own education and the poor should pay for their own welfare, eh?

yes, because taxes are theft. Or to be more precise, armed robbery.

Taxmen always look very closely at the expenditure column. Especially anything listed as "Miscellaneous", "Sundries" or "Family Holiday in the Caymans".

I've found a great way to reduce my tax burden: children. Have a few children and your taxes will drop dramatically. My Fed tax liability was less than 5% of my income for last year. Also helps if your wife doesn't work - one more dependent for the single income.

yes the poor should pay for their welfare.

What I can't figure out is why welfare seems right to people.

Education I have mixed feelings about. I would rather have parents use the same money that is forcibly removed from their paychecks to pay for their child's education at private schools. And don't tell me it costs more. The school systems are so corrupt the, the cost to educate one child in my county is very high.

The education system is so broke I don't even want to comment on it. I want you to take a look at the Clark County School district to see how ****ed up it is.

More money does not equal better grades despite popular belief.

Because I've been on welfare and it (metaphorically) saved my family's life.

You don't need money to hand out 100% across the board. It's not the grades that we are looking for here.
