Saddam is a madman and one of the worst dictators alive. If he gets killed or removed from power, the world would be a better place. However, to remove him is not the business of Uncle Sam, but of the Iraqi people, just like the removal of George W. Bush from power is the business of the Americans and nobody else.

However Saddam Hussein is the most hated guy in the White House, very likely it's a personal issue since Saddam tried to assassinate George Bush's father.

Not to mention his wife.

When Bush Sr. visited Kuwait around 1993, Saddam was planning on killing him with a car bomb. For one reason or another, it didn't come off.

A senior White House official recently told me that one of the seemingly most persuasive elements of the report had been overstated and was essentially incorrect. And none of the Clinton Administration officials I interviewed over a ten-week period this summer claimed that there was any empirical evidence—a "smoking gun"—directly linking Saddam or any of his senior advisers to the alleged assassination attempt. The case against Iraq was, and remains, circumstantial.

It remains unproven.

To answer your question, we the American people have no idea what he has done since he has been in power. We know some of it. Iran war, attack an American Naval Ship in the Gulf 87 USS Stark? Gas both his people and Iran soldiers. If we knew everything he has done, we ourselves might want to go there and put a bullet in his head.
