  • You can get any book you want in Greece and own it and read it without fearing the police.

    Germany is a special matter.

In the UK, you face 10 years in prison if you have books.

    And that is alright?

    Comment

    • I would sincerely hope there is more to this case than a bunch of books though, however. If we are imprisoning people like this it is a very slippery slope. Will I next get locked up for having a copy of The Communist Manifesto on my shelf? It's a grey area, and in itself this isn't enough to convict someone...I would expect there would have to be far more to it.

And I have a friend who lives in Heaton in Newcastle

I fail to see any substantive difference between Germany in this instance and you continued whining on this subject.

Where are your calls to infuse democratic ideals into the German culture?

            • I can't believe you guys are continuing to let him troll you with this. This thread had dropped like a rock, and only his own bump saved it...

Well, to each their own I guess. If you guys are silly enough to continue playing his game... fine by me.

              HOWEVER...
Let's stop with the petty insults, the name calling, and personal attacks... I really feel like restricting somebody today... so don't make yourselves easy targets

And that's not my opinion but that of top criminologists.
I should probably stay ouy but anyway.

What the **** does a a top criminologist know about this.Criminologists study the behaviour of criminals and the causes of that behaviour.

Once more with feeling- It is not a criminal offence to be in possession of a book in the UK unless you intend to use that book to incite/prepare or otherwise support terrorism.

Oh and if I had to be arrested in any of the EU countries Greece would be near or at the bottom of my list. After seeing that trial of the plane spotters, you couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

                    • the people taking photographs of military airports broke the law. not that you would understand anything about that.

the person you arrested was having BOOKS!

I wonder if this can be put through your thick skull.

britain remains as always a great shore thumb in europe but you shouldnt verify it so often.

and by criminologists i mean law experts.

be careful what you answer your fascistic regime is listening BTW so keep up the good puppy routine in the face of your blatantly undemocratic "law".

and if you want "revenge" for your peoples' stupidity you should find a more tactful way of doing it than terrorizing a 25 year old student.
                      pretty pathetic.

                          • Despite the trolls, that british "law" constitues an unparaleled in europe violation of basic democratic freedoms.

only the thickhead nationalism of some usual sad suspects would deny it
