At the beginning, I thought it was just typical mac/pc banter, but this time I detected a tone of hostility that was a few degrees above what I've experienced from you before.

It may have been the super ego's manifestiaton of your id's inner jealousy, however...
We mac users are also smart with psychology, as well...

Evidently not. My tone wasn't that of hostility but of humour. It was satire, in a way.

Note the shades icon accompanying the post where I mentioned "ultra-pseudo-manifesto style reminiscent of the early 1930s".

You didn't catch onto that, so I had to go more and more outrageous until you started getting it.

        What a nice little threadjacking...

Anyway, I just noticed that the OEM versions of Win XP seem to be shipped in quite ripped of packages.

That would be one of the major reasons for service packs.

Hmm... this software bundle will be abit useless.

WinDVD 4.0 FSC (2 channel version)
                          Adobe Photoshop Elements 1.0
                          Nero 5.5.9.14
                          Fujitsu-Siemens Product Recovery CD-ROM

The recovery disc and burning software will be handy, but the rest will be replaced with something abit better better.

I'm just wondering where the installation media for Norman Virus Control and Norman Personal Firewall are (not that I would need them ).

Meh. I anyway already have my new laptop. The only problem is that I have to go and buy a FireWire hub as the laptop seems to have a 4-pin FW plug and the special cable by Iomega has a 6-pin FW connector, and I can't replace the cable or neither is there any convertors available.

Summarising a few pros and cons so far discovered. I booted up the system for the first time with the software already loaded to the HDD, just to see the performance and outlook with the untouched settings. However I already did add the additional 256 MB DDR-266 RAM.

                                Cool

+ all keys of the keyboard are transparent and dark blue
                                + no WPA procedure
+ no hassle at all so far

                                Not so cool

                                - yeap, literally not so cool; the mobile P4 CPU is a nice lap heater, if you would happen to want some additional heating
                                - the display settings require immidiate attention for more comfort (i.e. too much brightness)

More to come as I get to install the new system and get to see more. So far discovered was the heatpipe cooling of the CPU and the quality of the built-in speakers.
