The Normans were essentially Vikings who were allowed by the French to settle in Normandy. Normans = not French. Around 900 years later, Normandy could have been considered totally French. Any questions?Comment

OK, as the overwhelming majority of people living in america during the war of independence were from Britain - we effectively lost a civil war and the war was won not by americans, but by breakaway british...
