Where the hell was Road to Perdition? Are they that influenced by the timing of the release? Sheesh...

There was a mighty big backlash against road to perdition. It had this massive spurt of acclaim, and then the shift started to go the other way, and all of a sudden people started to gang up on it.
I post on www.rottentomatoes.com and alot of people I know there hate it - it's a messageboard devoted to films like apoly is focused on civ. This is what I've learned about critical bashing of road to p. from them.

The movie was OK, but nothing special. Two Towers was easily best movie of the year.

It was a good movie, but came out so early in the year that it was virtualy forgotten come Oscar time. Newman did get a nod for Supporting actor. Chicago will probably win, given the 13 nomminations.

Easily? It was easily the biggest dissapointment, I'd say. FOTR was much better.

I'd vote for Gangs of New York or The Pianist.

Sure, FOTR was better, but TTT was still leaps and bounds above any of the other **** Hollywood put out last year, including and especially Star Wars.

Couldn't agree more. That film may be the best of the year. To nominate The Hours instead is a travesty.

Nope... Gangs was a better movie.

Chicago is a bad film, IMHO. Neither my wife nor I liked it.

Pianist or Gangs are the best of the films nominated. I think Pianist will win.

Daniel Day Lewis, though, for best actor since Pacino did not get nominated.

I'm just angry that Treasure Planet got a nomination over the Powerpuff Girls movie in the Best Animated Feature category. Spirited Away had better win that now.

Except for maybe the scale of the production, I don't see anything about the LOTR movies to make anyone think they're any good. Oh, and that cute elf guy.

Road to Perdition had amazing themes, amazing cinematography, and amazing acting.

A lot of it is played up by Tolkien fanboys. Decent books, but doesn't make it automatically into good movies.

I really like the first movie. Saw it three times.

I was bored by this one and had a hard time following the plot. There were too many characters popping up and things happening out of the clear blue that made no sense.

I, of course, have not read the books.
