  • OBL's Latest Message

Says only 18 people died at Tora Bora (6% of 300). I guess the Taliban fared a little worse in other battles.

    Credible?

He's also much more specific in this letter. He advises Iraqis to build camouflaged trenches--even though we know that trenches were death traps in Gulf War I.

    Good advice?

    A transcript...

Of course, we get a lot of the infidel blah.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Proclaiming Iraq to be his ally? Sounds like he wants war in Iraq.

Actually, he supposedly told the Iraqis to rise up and overthrow their false, impotent secular government on the tape too.

Frogger: Actually, that's a transript of the tape that I linked.

My bet: Our boys captures OBL in Afghanistan, shipped him to Hollywierd, where they convinced him to make a little speech.

Gives the US administration more ammunition to push PatAct2 through, and gives them their "missing link" which demonstrates an OBL-Iraq link (thus providing, theoretically, sufficient proof to get a UN go-ahead vote for the war).

Didn't read it. Got that secondhand from somewhere (note "apparently").

At first I thought your link wasn't working but then I realised they want statistical info before they let you in. Back in a bit.

                  First thing I found was:

And it doesn't harm in these conditions the interest of Muslims to agree with those of the socialists in fighting against the crusaders, even though we believe the socialists are infidels. For the socialists and the rulers have lost their legitimacy a long time ago, and the socialists are infidels regardless of where they are, whether in Baghdad or in Aden (ph).

Where the the "socialists in Baghdad" are an obvious reference to the Ba'ath

Frogger, but he concludes that an alliance with Saddam is justified. He references an alliance between Islam and the Persians against the Romans.

"And this fighting about to take place resembles the fight with the Romans earlier and the collusion of interest doesn't harm, for the Muslims' fight against the Romans was due to the collusion of the interests with the Persians. "

As I recall bull dozers work wonders for filling in trenches and as an added bonus you don't have to worry about burial details for all the Iraqis who refuse to come out of their trenches.
