How's your mitsurugi, drake? I mean what are your main moves? Are you familiar with SC conventions?

I tend to circle my opponent just out of range of their weapon. I keep them off balance with Mitsu's thrusting attacks and then close the gap quickly with some of Mitsu's long-range attacks. The variety of large, sweeping moves available to Mitsu is his major advantage over Yoshimitsu, in my eyes.

After I close the gap, I like to juggle my opponent and inflict as much damage as possible. Mitsu has that one move with two upward slashes that knocks your opponent up in the air and is perfect for juggle combos or ring outs. It's probably my favorite move, as it so versatile. Once your opponent lands, Mitsu can punish them with his downward stab move. Then you can wait for them to get up and attack or throw at close range, or you can back away and start the process all over.

All in all, it's a pretty good style. The only characters that can consistently counter it are long-range specialists like Ivy and Nightmare. There are ways to deal with those characters as well, however.

Gracious! 3-Dimensional playing mitsurugi! Most scrubbys stick to his overwhelming 2-D play. I'm impressed. Though mitsurugi is not as awesome as yoshi, he's a good pressure player too. You should try playing up close as well as out of distance.

You mean 66B, B? The SC convention for buttons are =

      789
      456
      123
// For directional (look at your numkey pad)
      and G = guard, A = horizontal, B= vertical, K = kick

All in all, it's a pretty good style. The only characters that can consistently counter it are long-range specialists like Ivy and Nightmare. There are ways to deal with those characters as well, however.
Yoshimitsu is a HEAVY poker. Unless your counter style w/ Relic stands or guard impact/parry is good, Its hard to break out of yoshi's 4A,A,A,A,A, 1A,A,A,A,A or FC 1K,K,K,K,K.

You have to master the 8-way run to be good at SC, no matter which character you use. Mitsu is very good at it, as he has some devastating moves on the run and a couple decent sidesteps to set them up.

I don't remember the button combo; sorry. I could hook up my DC and find it real quick, but I'm lazy. I'll try to do it in a couple days, when I have the time.

        Yoshimitsu is a HEAVY poker.

He's as good as Mitsurugi, so he's one of the best. Both of them are humbled by Nightmare, however. Never get in a poking match with Nightmare...

I know, but mitsurugi is known to be more 2-dimensional oriented than other characters. If you dont use 8wr, than might as well as go play tekken.

66B,B is the one where he runs foward, uppercuts and jumps alil on the second hit.

I'm cureently learning how to truly play Nightmare and maxi. To think they were the character I started out with... and now I've come full circle

Nightmare is a beast if you master him. I never spent much time on Maxi; he's probably good if you take the time to learn his complex system, but he just never interested me.

damn, poly is defintely not the place to talk about console. I remember last tie starting a console thread. It doesnt get too much posts in a forum based on PC games.

I hear you, Calc. The knowledge of console gaming on this board is pathetic.

                    SSBM is a fantastic game.
