The Pacifica network has several stations around the country including one in most cities here in California. They're pretty far left. They call themselves "Progressives" and advocate the creation of a Swedish style welfare state with the government owning all heavy industry and taxing the bejesus out of any one daring to work hard and make more money then a high school drop out.

I listen to it every once in a while just for laughs. The last article I heard was about how the "Evil IMF" was "plotting to make the world's poor homeless". Yep, that's exactly what happens; a bunch of fat white guys sit around plotting to throw Chinese coolies into the street.

Brian Whitman just came on the air on WABC:

I just listened to a show on the radio called the wallstreet underground. Anyone ever heard of this? He is a bit pessimistic about the U.S. economy. And some of the stuff he said tonight just seem wrong. He said that U.S. commanders have been authorized to use nuclear weapons in certain situations. I have trouble believe this.

also today the liberals were saying that the upcoming war is about oil. But the conservatives insist that it is not. Which is true?

Yes I know I have been listening to too much talk radio

Oil is a tangential factor not the main reason.

Let all the conservative pundits and whackjobs stay in Foxnews and radio. That way I can avoid them all. I must agree that probably the reason all these conservatives have radio shows is that their rantings and ravingsd make for popular radio. Perhaps differences in the lifestayles of the target audiences have somehting to do with it: perhaps conservatives spend more time near radios. All those urbanite lefties in their caffes will ahrdly listen to talk radio.

I've heard it, and I came away feeling like I had just listened to an infomercial...but not knowing for what.

exactly. I couldn't figure out what he was pushing. He has to have some agenda.

Interestingly the only commerical was an advertisement for his newsletter. Which the first issue is free. I guess he is pushing his newsletter, but how much money can one make from a simple newsletter? That's what I can't figure out. He isn't making any money from advertising, so his only income would be from the newsletter.

                  Strange.

BTW big news here for you talk radio buffs. I heard this on the Drudge show. Yeah I admit I listen to these conservative talk shows. But I'm not a conservative whacko!! I'm a libertarian, but I do hold some conservative views dearly. I follow conservative shows until they start talking about religion and morality. Then I change it. I hate conservative religious talk

I also listen to the Mike Savage show. But sometimes he talks about religion and values and I change it.

no response to the liberals getting their own radio network?

Clinton was complaining again that liberals get no say in the media. So he of course supports this idea. But he hasn't put any of his own money in. Because he knows it will fail like other liberal programs.

Just buy the time, like an info-merical or Praise the Lord
and past the collection plate show. Run it long enough
and you'll have listeners, especially if you butt heads with the other whacko shows.

                                A LIBERAL TALK RADIO NETWORK!

                                A LIBERAL TALK RADIO NETWORK!

                                Bring them on!

The New York Times is running a story today about some wealthy Chicago Democrats who are donating $10 million to crank up a leftist talk radio network!

Fantastic! There's nothing like having your profession validated in this way.

So .. they're out there talking to Al Franken about being their early-afternoon talk show host. Evidently they're going to rely on the wit and entertainment value of the liberal Hollywood scene to give their project a good start.

These leftists seem to be working on an assumption that a group of conservatives got together and decided to create a conservative talk radio network. They're not only wrong, they're delusional. Those who created today's talk radio programming were looking for a format to save AM radio. Obviously it wasn't going to be music, so you really had little left but the spoken word: news, information and talk. They tried it all, and it soon became clear that liberals just couldn't get the job done. When you're trying to make money with a radio station you put on programs that people will listen to. People don't want to listen to liberals spread their big-government, income redistribution, tyrant-tolerating nonsense on the air.

Now .. .here's my setup for an upcoming I told you so. If and when this liberal talk radio network becomes a reality, look for politicians to keep a close watch on just how many radio stations pick these shows up. Believe me, if enough stations don't pick up these shows, whether they have listeners or not, these politicians will start threatening legal action. They'll claim that these stations are intentionally discriminating against liberals and Democrats and the legislative machine will crank up. Look for threats of a return to the Fairness Doctrine. Demands will be made that all conservative or libertarian programs be countered with liberal hosts.

This one I'm looking forward to.
