the TV guys are trying to think up any reason to explain the current facts that don't equate to the shuttle having exploded.
              they're not having much luck.

It doesn't appear to have been an explosion but disintegration.

Before we degrade into a Jews v. Arab crap thread, I suggest you try finding MS Space Sim and try landing the damn shuttle yourself.

I was always too steep and blew up. The odds just caught up with NASA.

But in any case this is a tragedy and my condolences go out to the crew's family and friends.

I fear the age of the shuttle will be a factor. We underfunded NASA too long perhaps.

Another few years delay in the space program?
What about the ISS and the astronauts there, they'll have to send a shuttle to replace them or somehting quite soon, before the investigation on this disaster is over.

And damnit! Why do we still use 22 years old shuttles?! Who cancelled the X-38?

Agreed. I've been hounding my rep and senators to increase funding. $3 Million a year is not enough.

17 minutes now passed scheduled landing. Space shuttles aren't designed to glide that long. It's down somewhere.

NASA has sent out the word to people in the Dallas area to stay away from any debris they find. It's dangerous.
