I think I've figured out Sloww's MO here. He's going to hedge his bets by making lots of weird predictions, and eventually one of them will be right, and then he can sit back and tell us "I told ya I got vision".

Come on Sloww, fess up, that was your plan wasn't it?

A lot of weird predictions? No. China, and Japan.
Go ahead and laugh, until it's too late.
You think I'm either joking or stupid, and I'm neither of those.
That's cool. Archived threads are accessable.
When the time comes, I'm going to rub some people's noses in it.

Go to war against Iraq over nukes...

Go to war against North-Korea over nukes...

Go to war against Iran over nukes...

Make amends with Pakistan, after having trouble over nuclear proliferation and after them having supported the Taliban...

Supply your own allies with nukes...

This will do well for US credibilty?

What's next? Supply the new democratic Iraqi/Irani puppets with nukes against, uhmm... the Chinese?

If you really want to have this planet go down in a nuclear fireball, why not press the button now, it will save a lot of people a lot of suffering.

I said, set up democracy there. As in, that's on the agenda.
Well "Set up" kind of implies an American presence on the ground - did we "set up" democracy in Poland or Hungary??? No, we maintained a strategic push for it, and let events on the ground play out on their own. Iran strategy will have to be subtle, and not involve anything that resembles "setting up" democracy.

What is it with the 'threat' from China? As far as I can see, it's the Americans who are behaving agressively towards them, even as they get more democratic and capitalist.

Iran already has a democracy. It's had one since 1979. It's just that they have an &uumlr-powerful supreme court which strikes down anything not in accordance with their wishes and a armed force capable of backing them up. Imagine SCOTUS on steroids.

they are becoming more capitalist, yes, though i wouldn't be so optimistic about the democratic thingy...

Iran? No. After we are done with Iraq, Iran will be to scared not to do whatever we say. Besides, their country has enough internal problems to worry about foreign affairs. The Kurds want their land back (I think that we, the US, know what that is like), and Iraq will probably bend over backwards for us taking out their worse enemy (Iraq).

China? No. Despite all the protesting and anit-amercanism I think they like capitolism and at least the idea of democracy.

                      N. Korea? Maybe. I think it is more likely that North and South will reunite.

Japan? Pull your head out! Japan doesn't go to war anymore, they play it smart. When they can't blast it out of the water they just buy all of it... Look at Hawaii! Anywho, they already have nukes, only they are so small they can fit in your pocket and none of the inspectors can find it.

                      Cuba? That would be interesting.

Afganastan? We'll let Norway take care of them.... hehe

India? They may be a problem if we get involved their.

I think the best place to continue our warmongering is somewhere that doesn't expect it, yet which we can talk our way into... I am thinking it will be those countries from which the terrorists came (indirectly)... Somewhere south of our border...

THere is no doubt China is US' enemy of the future. Put simply, the US want to remain the planet's superpower, and China wants to replace the US at this comfortable position.
Leaders from both countries (if they are as hawkish as current US' one) will use the different civilizations as a good pretext to wage the new-look holy war... in some decades.
Right now, US and China need each other too much to enter any serious rivalry. That's why I think Sloww is right when he's speaking about giving more military pep to the Japanese (I doubt they'll give nukes though, but I don't dismiss the whole idea) : the US has to contain China indirectly. I guess unified Korea and SE-Asian countries will get much military help from the US, if they are under its influence.
