--Castaway for Fedex was very good.
--Willie Nelson/H&R Block had some amusement value.

Biggest trend -- ads for movies we cant see for at least 4 months. (But I guess it's at least an upgrade from ads for internet companies who won't tell us what they do... )

I was just glad to get to see the commercials. I am used to having the local station which shows the superbowl supersede the signal of the US network feed and end up watching some "regular" commercials for the local furniture shop or car dealer or something.

I really liked the Practice commecial with the Miller Lite ripoff-- The upside down clown was hilarious but I don't even recall what it was for. The zebra was great too

I didn't see the Willie Nelson one-- must have been getting beer for my guests.

The upside down clown ad doesn't seem to be too effective. While people seem to remember it and thought it was funny... NOBODY REMEMBERS WHAT IT IS FOR... (and neither do I)

        What a waste of money

Does anybody have any comments about the Gilligan Island spoof. For me it was a worth a "oh that's kind of cute" the first time, but I was already sick of it the second time.

The upside down clown was for Bud beer- just read a newspaper story about the commercials.

Gilligan spoof-- cute but not that great

and I thought the car commercials were boring

Commercials this year were stupid... the only one I though was remotely funny was the Bud Light commercial where this guy's friend tells him to look at his new girlfriends mom to see what she'll look like in 20 years. First she's hot, then he sees she's got a mega-ass. It wasn't even that funny, but it was the best one IMO.

Overall this SuperBowl was the second worst ever. The worst being the matchup between the NY Giants and the Ravens.
To us, it is the BEAST.

What's this obsession with the commercials?

Don't you get enough of them every other day of the year?
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

These commercials during the superbowl are almost always new and "unique". Many of them are not aired much or at all after the game. So there is a fair bit of interest in who come up with something interesting.

I understand that the price tag this year was something like 2 million per 30 second spot

Yeah... the price tag sounds about right. Commercials in the first quarter were going for about that. However, commercials later in the game were cheaper (as usual).

I usually don't get excited for the commericals anyhow, we see enough of them after the Super Bowl to last a life time

Commercials generally are a good reason to channel-surf but I have seen collections of the best commercials of the year that were hilarious.
