    - A prominent British or American gay celebrity (not sure which one) will likely have been killed by an extremist. Homophobia becomes much less tolerated by the mainstream public.

    - The Iraqi war will be over, democracy not reinstated, a US-friendly dictatorship has an uneasy hold over the country (in whole or in part).

    - Western war with a second 'terrorist' nation rages on, or is just starting. Greater splits between US and EU over foreign policy. Blair forced to resign, largely (but not wholly) over this matter.

    - One or two more large (but not major) terrorist attacks occured, one in the developed, one in the developing world.

    - Gay civil unions legalised in all major EU countries.

    - The European Union changes, or is considering changing, it's name again.

    - Bush's populatiry lessons. Is assasinated sometime around 2005.

    Just my thoughts.

      I like being melodramatic.

I'll probably still be wishing I was born in another generation, that's the only prediction I can make with any amount of accuracy.

Osweld, I actually thought that this IS the generation to be born in, from all the ones we previously had, unless you have a better idea.

That-which-should-not-be seeps out from under the rotting forests of New England to drain the souls from It's worshippers in the New World sect of the witch-cult. It uses this to warp reality around Itself and protect Itself from the coming Abomination.

R'yleh rises from the sea and chaos grips cities across the world as the insane begin to slaughter and devour the sane. The Cthulu cult begins to wage active war on the institutions of Man.

There are scattered reports of the dead rising, of shapeless monsters moving in the shadows, and of the Creeping Chaos Nyarlathotep returning to Imam, the city of Pillars.

Great Cthulu awakens from his sleep and strides across the world like a god. His chanting drives men mad as the final majicks are cast.

Yug-Suggoth, the All-in-One and the One-in-All, the Guardian and the Gate Guarded, is pried open and the barriers between realities fall apart. The Great Old Ones reawaken and being madness and death to the Earth. They turn reality into their personal hell. The "fortunate" humans are tortured, driven mad, and raised up by the Old Ones to by taught how revel in death like they do. The rest of the human race is reduced to small, scattered pockets trying to survive a world incredibly hostile to human life.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Lieberman will be president . He is the best democractic candidate out there. But sadly he doesn't have the charisma to get elected president . Instead we will be stuck with a crappy democratic president. Either way Bush will lose unless the economy does something amazing.

Well we know one thing, on Jan 1, 2005 Bush will still be President, at lease until the 20th.
