Let me put it this way - My partner and I are currently renting a house (2 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Garage, Back yard - aprroximately 1200 SqFt) located in San Francisco proper. Do you know how much we're paying for rent each month?

$2,100.00! And that's basic rent - utilities are extra.

Yes, we are planning on buying a house - but it will either be on the East Bay or down around San Jose. SF is and exciting city, but the real estate cost for a home directly in the City is just rediculous.

Actually Viceroy, the neighborhood were I currently live is probably around 75% Asian. I live in the Outer Mission District of the City. But the Asian population is actually spread out throughout the City.

San Francisco is a very nice city.

I live in Toronto, and it's quite nice too. Plus with the cheap dollar it makes it much easier to move. We also have lots of south Asians and IT jobs, and it isn't too too hot in the summer (though 30 C is not unheard of). But let me tell you there are days I really, really wouldn't mind living in San Francisco myself.

My partner is an IT professional. His current job title is Senior Technologist. He works for the City of Palo Alto. His yearly salery (at present) is $94,500.00. He should be getting a $5-6K raise this summer.

EDIT: Of course, he is a government employee (since he works for the city of Palo Alto). If he worked for a civilian company, he would probably make more, but it's nice having the job security of a government job.

Yes, I loved Toronto, my wife was a little hesitant at first with -5'c (as it was when I was there last month) but I convinced her thats only really 2-3 months (hope I was correct ha ha ha).

East Bay, where exactly is that ?? Is that Albany etc ?? sorry, I have no idea

I actually went to the Gurudwara in Toronto out near the Airport, so I know Toronto's got a good Indian population.

Blimey, thats a good wage.. British Airways pay peanuts.. I think my current wage would translate to 50k, so im looking for 60+ (to make the move worth it) (or 80+ Canadian)

Ha ha ha.. yes, I saw that on the "BBBrrr its freezing" thread

I don't mind it, but my wife absolutly hates it, like I absolutly hate 40'c in India ... either way, a month or two doesn't bother me too much.

The East Bay is the area on the east bank of the SF Bay. Freemont is considered East bay (just north-east of San Jose).
