I know I am starting two threads within minutes, but this is something that I have to get off my chest. I Just read an article in Navy Times about what the new carrier will be named - can anyone say George Bush?
Now, I know the tradition recently has been to name carriers affter influential politicians, and that George Bush Sr was not only an influential politician, but also a crack naval aviator during World War II, but that name, at this time smacks of nothing more than political consideratiosn. There are at least twenty other carrier names that I can think of, starting with old carriers, such as Lexington and Saratoga, old ships, such as United States, and true war hero, such as Marc Mitscher.
What do you think?
