Where are your numbers? Facts? No-one advocated the killing of civilians in Afghanistan, that was just an unfortunate by-product of America's success.

The numbers were around 4000-5000. I'm not goin to debate this with you, as soon as you start losing a debate you say you're bored and leaving (very Cartman-esque).

It was directed at MtG, not you.

I have never left a debate, nor lost one, especially not with you. You still haven't posted a link so those numbers are probably faulty.

Cheny makes a good VP, but his health and age rule him out for president
Not to mention the fact the man is just downright creepy.

The numbers he likes to spout to make it seem like freeing a dictated people is one of the great crimes of humanity.

So the fact that I, as an American, think that treatment of innocent Iraqi people through war and sanctions has bordered on atrocity automatically makes me an "America-hater".

As usual, your logic is impeccable.

America cares as much as she should do about the Iraqis, it's Saddam who doesn't.

Oh, we care alright. Cared enough to bomb the sh*t out of every critical piece of infrastructure they depended on. Then cared enough to reduce them to a sub-Haiti standard of living through the worst set of sanctions ever inflicted upon a civilized people. Then cared enough to say it's all saddam's fault in some cynical blame game that did nothing to either undermine saddams power or help the Iraqi people.

And as if we possibly couldn't show we care enough, we're gonna bomb the sh't out of them again!

Given the fact that the sanctions aren't responsible for the plight of the Iraqi people,
At what point does the welfare of the Iraqi people trump the obstinance of their leader? Sanctions have never been effective for various reasons.

Northern Iraq seems to be doing just fine while opperating under the exact same sanctions.

Would you rather have had the US go into Iraq in 1992 for violations of the peace agreement and remove Saddam with force then?

Sanctions in the north have not been enforced in nowhere near the same degree as in the South-Central regions, and the border is much more porous as well. Even though the North has 15% of the Iraqi population, It has 50% of Iraqs most productive, arable land. This part of the region also receives currency assistance, while the rest recieves only commodities. I can go on and on and....

Well gee Imran, maybe after 3 years or so, when it became readily apparent that Saddam wasn't about to budge, a new, more forceful resolution could've been tabled?

Instead, the Western chose to ignore the dire warnings of just about every prominent human rights organization about the plight of the people and continue to play the blame game. Bureaucracy and petty power politics in the UN oversight committees also share a burden.
