And Green Bay plays tomorrow afternoon, not Monday night, on the road (where they're beatable) in the same stadium that just saw the Giants get a well-deserved win and Shockey back up his Pro Bowl berth BIG TIME, against a Jets team that will not only be much more desperate for a win than them but are also far healthier. It's not a cakewalk by any means.

The Jets aren't going to be more desperate for a win, because even if they win, they might not go! The Packers realize that they NEED to win in order to have any chance of going to the Superbowl. And while the Jets have Pennington... he's no Farve, and game time temp? I bet it will be under 40... and you know Farve's record in games under 40 degrees right?

SF: I do agree that the officials' ignorance of Short's play in that situation was a bit questionable - at the least, Short probably should have been flagged for illegal contact with the receiver (I never saw him *grab* the face mask though). However, if the officials get the holding calls right earlier in the game (i.e. NOT CALLING THEM) then the Giants win in regulation by a 21-7 score and we're not even in a situation to be questioning that call.

Imran, the Jets' chances are all dependent on two games which will have already taken place by the time they step on the field. If New England beats Miami, then the Jets are in a "win and you're in" situation - they'd take the AFC East with a win over the Packers. If Miami wins, then you look to the Cleveland/Atlanta game. If Atlanta wins that game, then the Jets will get a wild card with a win. If Cleveland wins, the Jets are eliminated before they're even on the field. If it gets to that, then yes, Green Bay will win, but I think New England & Atlanta will get the job done to give the Jets their in and their motivation. Bottom line is, the Jets will know their fate by kickoff - and in three of the four situations, the Jets will lock up a playoff berth if they win.

CORRECTION: In the case of a wild card, either Denver has to win or Kansas City has to lose. But I think the Patriots win anyway.

BTW, Weather.com says temperature in East Rutherford one hour before kickoff will be 41 degrees. But that doesn't matter - the Jets have proven they can win big games in cold weather.

Oh, I know the Jets can win in cold weather... I didn't say anything about that.

But Farve... isn't he PERFECT in cold weather games? That's an intangible that you just can't touch .

Actually I believe he is perfect in any game where the temperature is under 35 degrees, and only lost one game when the temperature was under 40.

then the Giants win in regulation by a 21-7 score

Nah. One of the holding TDs that got yanked functionally got unyanked via the Giant's only real TD. If that holding call hadn't had occurred, somehow I doubt that the Giants would magically get possession of the ball again on the 40 ready to go on another TD drive. 14-7 I can buy, not 21-7.

Similar complaint about your "revised" score for the... erm... Bucaneers? Whoever played the Steelers last week that you like a lot. From what I know, the Steelers got their 17 points fast and just held the ground from there on out. If your team hadn't had made the turnovers, then Pittsburgh probably would not have played so conservatively and stayed on the ground, trying to run out the clock. Instead of 21-17, the game score might have been 24-21.

Moral: Alternative history is hard to do.

Therefore this is not a syllogism.

For someone that says he doesn't follow football that much, SF, you do good analyzing those games .

And yes, Reismark ALWAYS overvalues his team in his alt history replays .

When it comes to the Bucs, bending the rules of alternate history is ALWAYS justifiable

Ming is sure going to be pissed when Chicago moves further down the draft board by winning again .

I hear they are better than Detroit!

Btw, how did this week's starter Rob Johnson do in practice this week .

Imran, you're expecting Chicago to win with a third-string quarterback, no running back, and one decent wide receiver against the league's best defense. I need not say any more.

Well I do remember a few weeks ago, a team with the worst backup QB in the league, no running back, and no decent WRs ALMOST beat your vaunted Tampa team.
