Little do you know, Tamerlin, that I'm working on a Tamerlin clone programmed to worship SH rugby referees. When we come to say with you next year, it will be a simple matter of deleting you and inserting your clone!

Mmmm. A good pass should be directed in front of the receiver, allowing him to run onto it at speed. Watching the best passers in action is something to behold - their timing and placement is superb.
Looking at Georges Gregan passing a ball is almost always a real pleasure.
If the receiver has to change direction or interrupt his momentum, it's simply a bad pass. Personally, I think a lot of the problems with ball handling in rugby these days stem from bad passing - delivering the ball "at" rather than "in front of" the receiver.
You have summed up all the key points of Jo Maso's argumentation :
- The aimed pass can be the source of the momentum loss even if it is well executed because this is not the appropriate kind of pass.
- Delivering an aimed pass when a floating one would be more appropriate is "bad passing".
- Jo Maso says the pass must be an offering and that the player must have a purpose in mind before handling the ball and must choose the appropriate kind of pass in accordance with its goal. He adds this is exactly what they were teached and trained for in its time.
The aimed pass isn't at all a problem in itself, the journalist and Jo Maso simply suggest that the aimed pass is now so generalized that many players are not enough trained to execute the other kind of passes or that they even don't learn them. Many players are thus unable to deliver the right pass in accordance with the situation on the field because they are limited to the aimed pass.
Jo Maso thinks the team whose players will be able to choose and execute the adequate pass in all circumstances (or almost all ) will reach the top.
Isn't Australia famous for its game with short passes which can be beautiful (and also worrying, it depends on the side you are supporting) when it unfolds and overflows a defense?
Tell it to your backs!

True. My problem with writing for television is that I'm only governed by deadlines, the dates I have to deliver the script. So I can fiddle around for days on end - growing my vegetables, taking the dogs down the part, reading the newspaper, etc - and then work for 24 hours straight to get the script finished. It's a habit I've fallen into because I've been doing this for a very long time.
You are a very, very lucky man Finbar, this is exactly how I would like to work.

And he chooses the type of pass to fit the occasion.

Well, what they call "running rugby" involves lots of passing. Particularly those little passes of less than a metre, which really amount to handing the ball to another player going past.

Don't worry, I know how lucky I am. I get very well paid to sit at a computer at home and - well, dream. Make up stories, make up characters, try to give them recognisable human characteristics, work out what they would do and say, and so on. I often think I'm the luckiest person alive.

Ah, Ah! You need original cells and they are too deeply and hardly encoded and thus impervious to this kind of change.
A-ha! I have my operatives in Toulouse. Remember that belle dame who bumped against you recently? She was only collecting your DNA for me!
Be careful to give him the right schedule of waking and sleeping periods.
Rest assured, I'm giving him the capacity to drink copious amounts of alcohol without falling over, to scoff copius amounts of cassoulet without adding either a gram to his weight or a millimetre to his waistline, and to, um, perform at a moment's notice and interminably.
Happy?

It Sounds OK, but will he be able to reply to one of your post at almost 5:00 am from France ?

MRS HAVAK: "Havak! What are you doing sitting at the computer on Christmas Day!"
HAVAK: "Checking Kitchen Renovation, Wallpaper and Paint websites, beloved"
MRS HAVAK looks at the computer screen.
MRS HAVAK: "So who are finbar, Caligastia, Tamerlin and LDiCesares?"
HAVAK: "They're finbar Caligastia Tamerlin LDiCesares Pty Ltd. They're a one-stop home renovation company!"
MRS HAVAK: "That's all right then"
MRS HAVAK walks away.
HAVAK: "Phew ... "

I'm a bit with you, Tamerlin. It's like Easter, Valentine's Day and all those sorts of events. A crass money-making exercise reeking with hypocrisy. George Witless Bush will have a Christmas tree in his sitting room while he plots his attack on Iraq.
Aargh! I'm stuck with a bunch of leftists! Now you know why I never want to talk politics with you guys!
Ok, maybe we can find some common ground. I don't think GWB is the greatest, and I think the drug war is a joke.

Jeez, Tamerlin, you want absolutely everything, don't you! Okay, your clone will be able to post in rugby threads 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Plus! He won't even need an internet connection!

It's actually quite remarkable to find so many of us in the one thread. Well, a thread that isn't politically oriented, anyway.
Stick with us, Cal, we're taking over the world and setting it straight!

Okay, you qualify as an honorary leftist! And we promise not to tell anyone ...

OK, I agree then.

I am a moderate and I don't like the politicians who are all crooks who don't care about the citizen behind the elector, whatever their political affiliation.

Yeaaaah, legalize it!
