Tass, I have no idea what would cause your problems but something was obviously very very wrong.

Let me guess: You have a really crappy graphics card?

That would explain why most games wouldn't work and why it was unstable as all hell, it probably had REALLY crappy NT drivers...

    As for this part:
Any of my other programs began to fall apart. IE couldn't function in XP, and neither could Netscape. Windows "Help" wouldn't work because for some reason Microsoft HTML decided to commit suicide, and that prevented me from "restoring" my system to when only my games were falling apart. MSN, Yahoo, Winamp, and Control Panel (!) ceased to function. The only game I could get to run on the computer was AoE:AoK.
I've never, ever, heard of anything of that sort before. As I said before, something was very very wrong and if you actually asked people here we probably could have troubleshooted it for you.

C'est la vie, I hope you're happy with Win98SE since everyone else I know would sure as hell would take XP over 98SE anyday.

So you're saying it's a giant leap backwards?

Yes I do. But 98 is working out FINE, I'm not switching until I absolutely have to.

Yes, well, I am. Again, I'm not abandoning 98 until I absolutely have to.

              Bingo.
Your problem isn't with Windows XP, but with your graphics card vendor for making bad drivers.

What graphics card do you have?

Integrated graphics. Can't say that I'm surprised.

You mean except for your rant about how Windows XP doesn't work with it?
