Spain's unemployment rate fell to 8.76 percent in May from 9.58 percent in April, data from the Labour Ministry showed on Tuesday. The number of people registered as jobless at government labour offices in the month fell by 47,281 to 1.59 million. From:La tasa de desempleo creció en 79.800 personas en el tercer trimestre de 2002 hasta alcanzar un 11,4% de la población activa, frente a un 11,1% en el trimestre anterior, indicó este lunes el Instituto Nacional de EstadÃstica (INE), dependiente del ministerio de EconomÃa.
Según el comunicado emitido por el INE, el número de parados en España se sitúa en los 2.106.100 personas, tras este aumento del 4% registrado entre los meses de julio y septiembre.
En el mismo periodo, el número de personas que consiguieron un empleo aumentó en 116.200 para un total de 16.356.900 personas, mientras que el número de asalariados subió en 168.000 personas hasta un total de 13.263.000.
La tasa de actividad subió en medio punto hasta el 54,31%, según el comunicado.
Por Comunidades Autónomas, los mayores incrementos en el número de parados se produjeron en AndalucÃa (49.500 personas) y Madrid (21.000). (11/11/2002)
