The difference is that Nagasaki brought about the END of the deaths of thousands. How many people died on a daily basis as a result of Japanese occupation? How many Japanese civilians died prematurely as a result of medical service, supply and foot shortages (a lot).

Uh, the atomic bomb actually saved lives. If we would have done an all out amphibious invasion of Japan millions would die. And remember, we could've gone for Tokyo, but we didn't. It's obvious the bomb was to stop the war, not to kill innocent civilians.

The reason we have more nukes than Iraq is the arms race. The original purpose of the nukes was, like I said before, to stop the war. But then afterwards we were very afraid of the USSR, and we built weapons merely for deterrance. Obviously it wasn't just to push the USSR around, for we new very early that a nuclear war between the two nations would completely destroy the world. We didn't start it. I think if the USSR would have handed over their liberated territories there wouldn't have been much misunderstanding between the new nations. So then the cold war ended, and we were left with a whole lot of extra weapons. I doubt one of our presidents will dismantle many of them because we spent so much work building up our nuclear weapons stockpile, and it would all be a waste. Also, we keep them for deterrance. Thinking we're going to nuke another nation is preposterous. You can't deny that we won't have a president that stupid.

You also dropped my argument saying the US has been in more peacekeeping operations. Also, who gives more foreign aid? The fact we go out of our way to help other countries by giving them food, medicine, money, etc. and trying to stop war says something. Iraq doesn't do anything like that.

I disagree with Sava-I believe that Iraq is more of a threat to world peace. I think the US has done a lot more peacekeeping than Iraq. Who's trying to build WOMD? Who hailed a day where thousands of innocent people died as a great day? Who supports terrorism? Who completely hates a country with all of its hundreds of millions of habitants?

Which country spent years bombing Vietnam and crippling it for generations because it disliked it's government?
Which nation assassinated tens of thousands of Vietnamese civilians because it suspected they might disagree with them?

Which nation is the only one currently existing that has said it will use nukes as a first stirke?
Which nation supproted Nazi-esque death squads in El Salvador and Brazil?
Which nation blockaded Nicaragua and set up an internal terrorist army because they couldn't allow the commies to establish themselves in Central America?
Which nation referred to a gang of Afghan fundamentalists who turned their country into a killing field as 'the equivalent of our Founding Fathers and the brave men and women of the French resistance'?
Which nation supported an Indonesian regime that killed over a million people upon coming to power?
Which nation deliberately allowed the invasion and occupation of East Timor and supplied the weapons to keep it going, resulting in the deaths of more than a third of the local population?
