Does Europe (exlcuding the UK) produce any good music?
The only good European band outside of Britain seem to come occasionally from Sweden
The Swedes have given us some of the best punk of the last decade, especially Refused although bands like No Fun At All aren't bad either...
And they also have quite a bit of good metal...
There's good music all over the place, in pretty much all countries but the problem is usually that you never get a chance to hear it or hear about it. As Boshko just said for example, there's plenty of good metal in Sweden but not even here you hear about it. It's all mainstreamed. You have go look for it yourself.
"Wait a minute..this isn''t FAUX dive, it's just a DIVE!"
"...Mangy dog staggering about, looking vainly for a place to die."
"sauna stories? There are no 'sauna stories'.. I mean.. sauna is sauna. You do by the laws of sauna." -P.

Now the question is does AMerica only recieve the most god-awful stuff from continental Europe or is it truly a "musical desert" as a friend from Malta once described European music.
Europe and music... just doesn't fit. It takes many years between the few good artists, that exist in Europe. And most of them doesn't survive long, since Europeans only listens to hard metal and those one beat "songs" known as techno...
I hope (and believe) there's more difference in the music in America... (But I guess, I'll find out, when I finally get enough money, to move out of Europe...)
EDIT: The only place in Europe, where there's released some good songs "often", is Germany (e.g. Die Toten Hosen), but most of them, only sings/raps in German, so I don't think they'll be released in America... (Btw, I'm NOT German )
See, the problem is that quite a few of the really good bands in any country will want to make music in their own language. Something like, I dunno, Kent or Håkan Hellström, miles above anything coming out of the UK, never reaches global popularity because of the language barrier...
VetLegion, Rammstein and Laibach have completely different sounds. (I'm assuming you refer to Laibachs "Opus Dei" and "Nato" phase, since they change style with each album)
Rammstein reinvigorated hardcore/industrial in a way not seen since the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
While I love Laibach as well (have all their albums except for that painfully bad one featuring children singing about peace), they never influenced other music quite as much, IMO.
BTW, ever sen Rammstein live? Amazing. Best live show I've ever been to (and that actually includes Laibach promoting Opus Dei).
Good call on Prodigy, though. Can't believe I missed that...
