I need a clarification on One_Brow's problem. Does he mean that the allowed matrice sizes range from 3x4 to 5x4?

Take a look at the position below. What were the last 96 moves? (Yessir, that's ninety-six)

OK One brow, so its sorta of a guess
I may still try some more, but I kinda ran out of time yesterday. I would say on a 5x5 it is possible to force a draw. I cant prove a win or a draw on a 6x6. Im almost certain you can prove a win on a 7x7. So my guess would be 6x6 is the biggest board you can force a draw as the second player. (NOt counting 5x6 or 6x7)
Since I seem to be the only one actually trying you may as well put the answer or a brief explanation...

Dimensions differing from each other by more than 1 are presumably not allowed because that would give us too many cases to consider, and it would be somewhat ambiguous which of two grid sizes is "bigger" (although I guess it would be the one with the largest area).

1. c3 d4 (any other corner mov allows a rotated version, you knowfrom 5x5 a corner is needed)
2. d2 b4 (white must defend the pair on b4 or e1, e1 allows the smae fllowing sequence)
3. c4 (black defends the pair)
Here we have two branches, as white can defend the c3-c4 pair on c2 or c5:
3. ... c5
4. c2 c1 (forced)
5. b2 (Black wins on either a2 or e2 next turn)
3. ... c2
4. d3 (Black forms two open pairs c3-d3 and c4-d3. He converts one to an open three next turn, as white has no pair to convert).
So, now that you know the size is smaller than 6x6...

Yeah. 5x6 is win for first player.
I can't figure out a way to win 5x5 though. Seems like that is the answer."In some of its more lunatic aspects, political correctness is merely ridiculous. I tried a bit, and am almost certain 5x5 is a draw.
I just logged before I go to bed and have a hard day tomorrow, might try to post somewhat of an explanation.
As I said before, anything than a start in the middle, player 2 replies in the middle and you can quickly block all attacks. After a start in the middle (c3) reply d2 (for example) and then I divided in a lot of cases and could prove draws for most.

Yes, 5x5 is draw f the secod player pays correctly. There is no real "proof" outside of demonstration.
LulThyme did themost work on this, but since had commented recently that he had posted too many puzzles himself, I think we can let Ignorance be our next puzzler (if for no other reaon than irony).

I'm working on something, but not to waste time I'll post it when it's my turn next time.
Few riddles for now, hopefully everyone hasn't heard these before:
1:
When young, I am sweet in the sun.
When middle-aged, I make you happy.
When old, I am valued more than ever.
2:
I'm gentle enough to soothe the skin,
light enough to caress the sky,
hard enough to crack rocks.
3:
I build up castles.
I tear down mountains.
I make some men blind,
I help others to see."In some of its more lunatic aspects, political correctness is merely ridiculous.
