I dont Know, but, it is quite impressive, the Americans must surely spend more money in the military than Japan,Germany,France,Italy,England,China,Russia, India, Pakistan,Brazil etc etc together.

It's only healthy to have a budget that big .

edit: I can't see any problems here, well maybe that then you must fight a lot, or all the money is wasted.
Looks like someone is preparing for huge fighting, but still you guys won't except volunteers. Shame on you! I'd do it for free! There's something wrong in that! Call your congressman!

At least they aren't spending the money on education or something so we should get a competitive edge down the line.

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

And don't you forget it! The graduates of one of our elite training camps (schools) could conquer France in hours.

I thought that it was only the next 10 countries combined though.

These numbers should be looked at with a grain of salt. Our military is a professional force, which costs a lot of money to run. It has to compete with the private sector for bodies and minds, which costs lots of moolah.

We're going toward a defense budget of 4% of GDP. Historically, this is not an unduly high figure. Personally, I thought a 3% figure was just fine, but moving to 4% is not a very large swing upward in context.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
