Re: Why do some people flaunt their sexuality?

    I guess I don't see how this:

    Is comparable to this:

or even the homosexual guy who constantly states things like "I'm such a queer" or "that was so gay of me" etc.
The former is pretty loathesome, and as some have pointed out, a sign of insecurity. A brother of a friend had a poster in his room where he had all the girls he slept with there sign, so there were dozens of signatures on it. It's pretty sleazy behavior.

The latter, whilst annoying if overdone, is not something I find particularly upsetting. And, frankly, I don't know any gays who go around saying that kind of thing. Even the most flamboyantly gay men I know don't go around shouting "I'm such a queer" all the time...

Boris - I say this because I was just doing some volunteer work with a few people, half of which were gay

Two of the guys were so incredibly flamboyant that they really did say things like "I am such a ***!" with that cheery laugh/smile and "oh that guy was such a little hottie mmmmmm" in that high pitched "I'm gay" steriotype voice.

They are the same thing, in my mind...they're all related...it's about showing that you are straight or gay.

I've met very few people who don't comment on the attractiveness of other people they see. I think it's the degree. Saying to each other, "he's hot!" is harmless, IMO. Whistling and catcalling is the more obnoxious and disgusting behavior.

Frankly, I don't mind a little double-standard here. The world assumes people are heterosexual, and this can be trying for gays. Some gay men are therefore more flamboyant and wear their sexuality more on their sleeves, like a big flashing calling card. I suppose in a way it can avoid unpleasantness by eliminating the need for coming out to friends or hiding their sexuality. Perhaps some do it to extremes (the attention-seekers), but I see it as harmless. So long as one's actions doesn't degrade someone else (which I see men doing to women all the time here), it doesn't bother me.

I don't get why gay guys would say something like "I'm so queer"... I've never heard a gay man say anything like that before. It just sounds silly. I never hear guys saying, I'm so straight... of course I know approximately 0 openly gay men, so I'm not an expert on the subject.

I said openly because I'm sure that I must know at least one gay person that hasn't come out.

nah... the porn on my computer is fulla girls, not guys... thats the ultimate gay/straight test.

although if I were offered maybe 100k, but had to sleep with a guy, I wouldn't mind doing Brad Pitt. There is a difference in being gay, and acknowledging that another man just looks good. I sure as sh!t know that some people are ugly bastards. So I must know that some dudes are hot.

They just don't do anything for me below the equator

There is this awful site called "The Bait Bus" or something like that wherein these group of people drive around in a van, find straight men on the street and manipulate them into, in front of a camera, having sex with another man. They would lure the marks into the van on the premise of being paid $1000 to have sex with one of the women in the van. Then they would pull the bait-and-switch and stipulate that the guy first has to have sex with the gay guy.

What's funny is that all of the men, especially the most "masculine" ones, cave in and, when in the act, are *very* into it and very aggressive about it. The awfulness comes afterwards, though--because they always trick the guy out of the van and speed off without paying. That is the terrible part.

One could argue that many of the men "deserve it," if they are willing to engage in sex with a total stranger on camera for money (many of the guys are married, engaged or have girlfriends, too). But it still really bothers me they do this. Seems to me to be inviting these guys to turn into gay-bashers or worse.

Long story short: I think anyone can bring themselves to have sex with either gender, given the right circumstances.

So you could **** a pressure cooker and enjoy it Sava?
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.
