I think we may have missed each other, you taking it to mean the latter, yet me saying it to mean the former.

Innocent people do not deserve to die, even if they're doing something criminal, they deserve arrest and trial. If someone is in the act of killing someone else - take the shot. If there's a reasonable chance of someone else getting hit (IE shooting into a crowd) for GOD'S SAKE DON'T DO IT!
