What I would do.........

Bring a laptop and a solar charger for it, you could easily fill a lap top with enough info for most of our modern technology, how to build it etc.........120 gigs and more is possible to fit into a laptop, and if its just word documents, you could fit millions of them........

The laptop would also hold the entire history of the world(from before then and after).


I'd take a semi automatic weapon, a sniper rifle. I'd go in full bullet proof, armor piercing round resistant body armor.

I'd go to portugal, fill the king in on who I am etc...and offer to take over the world, and cut him in on it with his help.

(Pick Portugal because it had a huge fleet, the best explorers in the world, and also scientifcally advanced compared to its european neighbors)

We'd impliment stolanistic 5 year programs to bring portugal technolgocically up to where we are today, I think a semi automatic and a sniper rifle taking out a 100 people would be enough to convince the king.

Conquer my way up the western coast of europe, hop to England. Now the heavy duty manufacturing starts. England has more natural metals then any other western European country. Before we'd just be using firearms which were more advanced then the 1400's, but nothing like what we have today. With the excess of metal that could be gotten from britain we'd start making heavy duty armored vehicles, tanks etc...also start working on modern day rifles.

Sweep east, taking the middle east(oil).

All these conquests so far would be pretty easy, most would be surrenders, as when the enemy can shoot 10x as far as you, and 100x more acuratley you really cant fight them.

Expand the armored divisions, roll over the rest of europe, eurasia and russia.

When I get to Africa and Aisa the casualties would increase alot, they'd proboally resist a hell of alot more then the europeans/middle eastern people.

Hop over to America, help the tribes which made up the irquio(sp?) nation take over the hemisphere and set them up to govern it for us.

On every step on the conquest I'd give the conquered land medicines, agriculture and sanitation techniques and other technologies to make them WANT to be in my empire.

Some ancient empire builders did their best to make their new vassals actually like them, to ensure their loyalty. Antibotics and refrigeration would go a long way to help.

I figure I could have the entire world conquered in 40 years or so.

That's why I'd go to Lithuanian Great Duchy - we were pagan at a time, so, no inquisition/which burnings. And Wizards were respected much.

There are also portable DVD players with built in screens as well. Of course having a laptop with a DVD drive would be a more useful option.

I don't think even with modern knowlege that taking over the world would be a possibility in a lifetime. To get to the point where manufacture of modern equipment is possible would take a long time, even knowing exactly what you were doing and with the unquestioned support of a nation. A better idea (for personal gain) would be to set yourself up as some sort of God (playing off a given culture's mythology), and then just reap the rewards of having a nation worship you. Who would choose to spend the next 40 years upgrading manufacturing processes and out on the warpath when they could be pampered and spoiled to their hearts content with much less work.

A more selfless goal could be achieved by just spreading your knowlege and expertise freely. This would probably lead to more recognition than through warfare even. You'd be every author and every scientist... instead of a slightly more successful Alexander.

start my own kingdom (preferibly in the Americas) with my magical boomsticks. Prepare my minions for the oncomming armies, and send Europa packing.

Knowing this forum, its knowledge/opinions of politics history and science, I think the responses will be interesting to say the least.
