    MosesPresley:

I am just a bit surprised that, being at Apolyton since December 1999, you haven't realized yet that Markos, Dan, Ming, MtG, et al., generally don't bite people's heads off at first glance. Nor do their opinions necessarily "tame" a thread into going a certain way.

Heh. I have to admit, though, that MtG's posts remind me of a certain — and very much admired — pair of profs I had at the university. They spoke their minds (and I didn't always agree) and shot true and straight. For better or worse, you knew where they stood on certain issues. Classes were a blast with them, because they nurtured discussion.

OK, enough with the blast from the past memories.

I have been here since '99, but I have only started lurking here in earnest since late '01 when Civ 3 came out. I originally came here after the old Firaxis SMAC .owo forums were closed down.

I have found just the opposite. If the moderators disagree with a subject, they all but close down the topic with snide remarks and sneering commentary, but that's just my pov. I'm know many of you feel differently.

But, most of the time you can reply to their snide remarks and sneering commentary and, as long as you don't go outside the rules of the forum, also be snide and sneering.

All of us that came here from .owo deserve a combat patch or something.

You were there too jimmytrick? I didn't know that. I feel your pain. The main trouble maker there migrated to here too, but somehow he has been reigned in. Maybe there are too many intelligent people here to fall for his amateur corporate espionage tactics. I don't dare name the fiend for fear of summoning him in all of his pestilent glory.

I can't be bothered to deal with other forums. This one's annoying enough.

There are at least a dozen old owo posters now convinced you're talking about them. Myself included.

Anyone know a good msg board where they talk about ghosts and crap? Those are always fun to mess wit! The one I use to go to shut down, so I have been coming here. To my dismay this board great. All be it filled with a lot of smart ppl, kind of makes me fill dumb, I guess my wife was right...(<-sarcasim)

I like the moderator envolvement here a lot, it tends to control the board better, and ppl knowing that the modsquad is around makes them behave a little better. I am sorry to ever feels that their opinions carry more weight, they are just better at arguing...I don't think that arguing has anything to do with "smarts" more so than it has to do with "wits".

Conversations don't close...they just fade away.
