  • Welcome to NATO!

Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Joining Nato will mean a tremendous enhancement of national security for those countries in the new century. Especially for the Baltic countries.

Now let's see if the Danish precsidency can get a couple of them into the EU later this year...

I will sleep better tonight knowing that the US will be committed to defend Slovenia's borders.

If everyone joins NATO, then what?

Just a pragmatic approach, I guess. Accept what you are unable to change anyways.

Yes, that friendship between Russia and USA became the last think for me to became anti-nato instead of pro-nato. Russians can't ever be trusted in my opinion (as history shown ) and they were considered the biggest threat and the biggest reason to join NATO. If they are almost in NATO themselves, than there is absolutely no point to join that organisation. I think that if Russia would annex Lithuania (assuming that Lithuania would've joined NATO), USA would do nothing, just maybe condemn Russian actions...
