I heard somewhere that each side of the Great Pyramid is 36,525 inches, which corresponds to the fact that there are 365.25 days in an average year, something the Egyptians could not have known. Any truth to that?

I am sure that if a person tries hard enough they might find deep significance by measuring the volume of Cheops in farquarts and then dividing by fortnights and if that didn't work they might try dividing by millimeters or Silisean yards on the off chance that they could claim the resulting number was mentioned in an obsure passage of Nostradamus or in the margins of book that Edgar Cayce once looked at.

Tsk, tsk. Don't you folks watch "Stargate SG-1"? Obviously not. **sigh** OK, here we go: The pyramids are mere *parts* of massive Go'auld starships that literally land *on* the pyramids and incorporate them into the starship's structure. The ship then lifts off, with the pyramid acting as its core. So, therefore, the pyramids are obviously of alien manufacture.

Even without wheels or pulleys, they had the means, just so long as they had the labor, which they clearly had. It was very hard labor, but not mysterious.
but people hve tried to recreate it with smaller pyramids, and their conclusion was that it was impossible to build the pyramid in such a short amount of time. Although i can't remember how many people they used or it...
Serious egyptology has nothing to do with scifi.
who mentions scifi?
And like Rah mentioned, serious Egyptology is also just speculation.
The fact that the pyramids are lined up in a constellation that existed in that form in 10000 BC can't just be waved away because some scifi lunatic noticed it.Last edited by Lemmy; September 18, 2002, 04:33.<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. But they aren't lined up in a constellation at all...they just sort of look that way. If it was done to match Orion, then they didn't do a very accurate job for a race that is often touted as extremely accurate. In addition the pyramids aren't laid out correctly...if you were to look up at Orion from the great pyramid the other two pyramids would not be aligned with the other two stars...they are a mirror image (at best).

you got a link for that?
I thought they were pretty accurate , along with other monuments around the world that resemble constellations.<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. This probably covers most of it:
As for other areas?
You shouldn't read too much Hancock...it's bad for your health.
His stuff for Ankor Wat is particularly selective when it comes to aligning sites with the stars.

Boris: And we know exactly how they built the pyramids
nononono, don't let them fake you my friend,
we never can know EXACTLY how they build them, we were not there! We have pretty good ideas how they build them. But they might be all wrongFormerly known as "CyberShy"

Hehe, thanks Toll, i have seen his (Bauvals) grand show twice already, but i never could find out myself why he shouldn't be right... after reading it all becomes clear though... but idd, like Marec said 50 years ago (i bet none of you know the guy) you can always find something odd if you just look long enough, the world is filled with coincidences, so always be critical to what you discover...
btw i've watched the show last night... i hope that's not a good example of American documentaries , it was pretty silly, especially the 2 announcers, that guy asking Zahi if it really wasn't slave labour (oh boy, i know that for years and years already... it's just a story they teach ya at school or something), no i found the man very annoying, and he had nothing interesting to say anyway, on top of that he tried to act dramatic and he wanted to seem very interested, but compare the clown to Zahi and you'll see who was really excited
I say next time don't do this **** LIVE, first make sure ya have something worthwhile to say because this was so stupid, Zahi somewhat made it a bit interesting though..
later on that evening (after the 'supercrocs' (who invents those names ffs!)) you could see a programme about Thera, a place where minoan culture thrived until it was completely wiped out by a volcano - the city and streets were very well preserved, a bit like Pompeii
anyway that show was british, and i noticed the difference , the explanations were always just a bit more complicated"An archaeologist is the best husband a women can have; the older she gets, the more interested he is in her." - Agatha Christie

This is what I read:
"In 1995, a group of scientists and engineers built a replica 1/10 the size of the Great Pyramid. They only used primitive tools and several hundred Egyptian volunteers. The project was completed after 3 weeks. So biggest problem they faced was not moving heavy stones and carrying them up the pyramid, but how to setting the headstone of the pyramid"
We know all of the generalities of how they made the pyramids, and it was perfectly feasible considering the labor pool they had to draw upon during the flooding season. THere are details we don't know, such as the exact nautre of the ramps used, but we have good guesses and they are well within the realm of the feasible:
"But whatever the configuration of the ramps, the fact remains that the Egyptians successfully completed the most massive building projects in all of history. There is nothing magical or supernatural in the means by which they achieved their goals. By all indications, they retained their knowledge of construction throughout their history, but they were limited after the Fourth Dynasty not by the lack of technology but rather by the lack of the abundant resources that were previously available. More than two thousand years later, the Romans would move huge stones, some weighing nearly 1,000 tons, using similar techniques at Baalbek."
It's not magical, it's not supernatural, it's not alien technology. They are just big f*ckin' tombs built by old-fashioned human labor.Tutto nel mondo è burla

i didn't claim they are, and don't think they are either, i just feel that current theories don't fit all the facts, and that it might be wise to look at other theories that do explain those facts, but it does seem i was misinformed about that recreation project.<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. ok, i just read the link Tolls gave, and it cleared a lot of stuff up
now, what do you guys think about this then
The Great Sphinx of Egypt is the greatest monumental sculpture in the ancient world. Built in the form of a lion, it may be more than 10,000 years ...
about the age of the sphinx, and mainly about the erosion part, that seems like solid evidence, not?<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners.
