I didn't even read this thread. I am just awed at the fact that a thread titled, "Why are Non-Americans such Gay *****?" could NOT be shut down, even after 77 posts. And the people at CivFanatics call you sheep who mod everything????"Nos moritori te salutamus!"---Gladiator Phrase

Much less mod activity here than at CFCConcrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

Really Immortal? I never knew that, it seems to be almost nonexistent. The worst is at GameFAQs.com. If you go there and make a thread titled "I am C Jay C's Son" (NOTE: C Jay C created the site) you will be booted. IF you mention pirated games, you get suspended. Mention drugs, suspended. That place is a police state.
Still, I think the integrity of this thread is nonexistent. IT has a good point, but calling them all gay ***** makes you sound like an idiot"Nos moritori te salutamus!"---Gladiator Phrase

I don't like our current administration. I don't agree with laissez-faire economics because sometimes the market needs to be controlled. I don't agree with rampant industrialization that pollutes the planets air and when floods, droughts, etc happen, can't figure out why the intensity of the natural disasters is happening--->duh, more pollutants in the air!
I don't agree with individuals who can buy 10 or more $500,000+ cars and other crap when our public education system seems to be cannibalizing itself just to keep itself standing.
Neither can I agree with some CEO's who make millions of dollars, make some back-door deals, get caught, and spend <5 years in a country-club prison when whole communities put together make less than what these guys are making......and I'm not the only one who thinks that way.
Now, I love this country and I wouldn't trade it for any other one (except maybe England or Japan for the cute babes! ) but sometimes the people we put into office to lead us seem to have their head up their a**.Despot-(1a) : a ruler with absolute power and authority (1b) : a person exercising power tyrannically

Also the thread isn't about politics. It's about Europeans who are far too interested in the United States. It's like they have an Amerophilia fetish.
And the title is strictly to draw people in. Don't take it so seriously. It worked.John Brown did nothing wrong.

The question is why are we bashing each other so much? Yes, the Euros like to tell us how we should run our country so much, and it can be annoying, but I highly respect them and they're no worse then Americans."The first man who, having fenced off a plot of land, thought of saying, 'This is mine' and found people simple enough to believe him was the real founder of civil society. How many crimes, wars, murders, how many miseries and horrors might the human race had been spared by the one who, upon pulling up the stakes or filling in the ditch, had shouted to his fellow men: 'Beware of listening to this imposter; you are lost if you forget the fruits of the earth belong to all and that the earth belongs to no one." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau

That article is a very good summary of the current situation in Europe and America.
It is also easy to see that Europeans and Americans are partially blinded to the merits of the other's way of thinking by the success of their own methods in their primary goals in the last half-century - military might and an umcompromising attitude were a sucess for the US in defeating communism and the USSR whilst negociation and the pooling of sovereignty have been successful in building europe's amazing peace.
However the article only focuses on the medium term (the next 50 years or so) and America will not stay powerful forever.
Military power comes from economics power - although you can be an economic power but not a military one it is almost impossible to be a military power without an economy to back it up.
The US's share of global output has been falling for half a century - that means that eventually power will shift (I do not mean that the US will lose power itself, just it's current monopoly on it) and then the US will need either a militarily strong europe as it's ally or a strong system of international law in order to protect itself from erosion of it's global influence.
Ultimately this could mean a form of 'Transatlantic Union' of the entire west to counter the global power of China & India in the 22nd century.Last edited by el freako; September 15, 2002, 16:29.19th Century Liberal, 21st Century European

Another USA vs the world thread? Why oh why? Couldn't ming have closed it down before it got serious?
Anyway, I believe that the first posts in there were simply jewels of stupidity. Nothing like the one cent troll some of us are doing: these people feel from the bottom of their hearts that a big injustice is being made to their "GREAT" country. My heart is bleeding at the sight and I sometimes feel that we're too cruel on them. Someday I'm afraid they may not withstand our continuous criticism and vote to have their webspace censored, like it is in China now. It would be a pity, wouldn't it?"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
