  • Why are non-Americans such duffusses?

No offense to the non-gay ***** out there, this is just a generalization.

I don't tell Belgians how to run their country. If Italians want to invade Libya again, I don't really care. And if Brazilians feel like destroying the Amazon, it's none of my business.

But for some reason, foreigners always feel like debating how Americans should run their own country.

Here's a thought: If your methods are so good, why can we have such a powerhouse economy while still spending hundreds of billions of dollars on defense? If Europeans are so much better than Americans, why do we set the pace of the world? Why, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, do you believe that you have a better system than we do?

This isn't about social justice. If you want social justice, fine, elect socialist governments, and enjoy yourselves. Americans are perfectly happy with social injustice, and see no reason why you should tell us we're wrong.

Now other people debating our foreign policy is one thing. It's acceptable to say, "Hey, you shouldn't have invaded those peaceful people." But it's a whole other ball game to say, "Hey, you should raise your own taxes and create a ****ty government run health care system like the UK!" Countries are supposed to have dialouge about foreign policy, and if discussion doesn't get your very far, a nifty little CIA inspired coup can do the trick.

You all might be surprised but Americans don't sit around saying, "You know, I worry about Greece's bugget for this fiscal year." Most Americans don't give two ****s about your crappy little has-been countries. We only care about you when we're going on vacation to see the world and whatnot. And even then, we still don't really care that much.

I know this is a rant, and it will be closed or deleted, but the fact remains, we don't really care about your countries, and would appreciate it if you would treat us with the same indifference.

Americans don't care about how other people run their countries? While that may be true of the general population, it's pretty outlandish if stated with regards to your government. Dare we point out how many "interventions" have been undertaken in situations which were manifestly none of the US' business.

In other words, if there's such a disconnect between how mych you complain about other countries and how much other countries' people complain about you, it might have something to do with how little attention the average American pays to his own government, not how much other people pay to it.

Re: Why are non-Americans such gay *****?

You know, that's exactly how the Chinese felt when the first British ships began making contact with China in the 1840's. "We don't care about the English and French and whatnot, they're all barbarians," the Chinese said to each other. Then they drank tea and had fun with poetry.

Heck, the very fabric of ancient Chinese culture was based on not knowing and not finding out about other countries. For 2000 years Chinese civilization led the world. And became very very complacent.

            We fell hard.

And we're coming back, now that this little weakness has been passed on to our American brothers.

See? Even Canadians are so into correcting us it's amazing; and they're not even into themselves enough to be their own country.

You can't, at least not in the long run.

Regarding American interference, when I was at school we had a family of Americans who used to stand outside the gates handing out creationist pamphlets.

Well yeah, I agree Frogger. But I'm talking about individuals mostly.

Most individual Europeans care way too much about the US.

Canadians I can understand, since we're neighbors and all. But for people who live nowhere near us to care about our health care system seems pretty stupid.

                        So done.

Now behave yourselves, or this thread is toast...

We've been doing it for 60 years folks. If that isnt the "long run" what is?

Tho I think we tend to overdo it anyway. I mean, why do you need stealth bombers with 8 billion LGM's to take out a stone hut in Khandahar?
