    • Wellington kicked the French out of Spain with very little help from the Spanish.

          • France starts stuff, then boogies.
Decades since they finished what they started.
They're arrogant, even moreso than Greeks.
            They stink.

            Take your pick on why.

Frenchs and Americans are both very arrogants and proud people. They have both experience of being the indisputed world leader (though USA has much more a lead and is ACTUALLY the leader) and experience of having overwhelming cultural edge.
On top of that, Frenchs always considered Americans as ignorant spoiled brats with a mercantile subculture, while Americans always looked at Frenchs as snobbish d*cks pissing everyone with their past glory.
How can you imagine they could like each other

Notice by the way that both USA and France have more bash-threasds than all other nations put together. Isn't it amazing ?

              • Still the average yankee is MUCH more pleasant than the average french

Maybe it is a bit more interesting to have a conversation with a french (although it's not an absolut) but the most funny/nice/outgoing/pleasant to be around are the americans.

                Wildly generalizing of course.

The french were not even culturally dominant in Europe,

Im music they certainly wern't dominant.
In painting tehy had many good artists but so did The Netherlands,Spain and Italy.
In literature they are at least equalled by Britain.

How then are they culturally dominant

Very important, but they couldn't even do their revolution right. They got rid of a king and ended up with an emporer

The idea of blood running through the streets was hardly a new one in Europe.

                          • It did lead to the overthrow of monarchy and set the foundations for the modern nation state by which all european countries operate and on which basis they are formed. (yes even the UK although it doesn't like to hear it and prefers to talk about... westphalia (sp?)

Apart from that the ideals of humanism were unprecedented in their wide scope.
