The thing is Paiktis that it's punishing the innocent for the actions of the guilty, it's like banning driving because some people drive drunk.

This is a screwy poll. It is amazing how many people think that society would be so much better if we just let our kids inject any substance they choose into their arms. Oh wait, I forgot about prohibition. Never mind. Make everything legal because that didn't work.

Did I say drugs were good?
The fact is people have been using them since time immemorial and no law will prevent them. Prohibition has failed abjectly and basically just criminalised normal ordinary people and inflated prices which leads to a cycle of crime. What is needed is control of use, regulation and treatment for addiction. Let's stop enriching criminals by making the trade illegal.
This is just common sense but unfortunately government policy in this area is controlled by a bunch of religious dingbats.
I've never understood abstinence Christians btw given that JC's first miracle was to turn water into wine and his last meal involved wine drinking.Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

I agree with Horsey. All making drugs illegal does is make the criminals rich of the use, which will happen, nevertheless.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

all drugs should be illegal for consistancy. This includes Viagra, caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol.
edit: I didn't read the thread so I'm sure someone has pointed out that the poll is screwed up. He forgot to check a certain multi-choice box in the poll

Hence my reply, "Dammit, I forgot MC."
Well! Chop chop! Get to work!"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. Make drugs as cheap as tobacco or beer and they'll be consumed in similar quantities. Alcohol already accounts for abour half of all traffic fatalities, but other abusable substances only accounts for 5% to 10%. When people start consuming tha other drugs in quantities similar to alcohol you'll see a near doubling of the vehicular death rate."I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!

Instead of you going to them they'll have to go to you. Guess what that will do to the crime related homicide rate?
