Legalise nothing, pursue heavy information campaigns until Tobacco and Alcohol are used by so small a minority that they can safely be made illegal.Världsstad - Dom lokala genrenas vän

None of the above, of course.
If you're doing things for people's own good, aren't you going to have to mandate good diets, too? I bet more people die of things like heart attacks than drugs.

Legalize pot, alcohol, and tobacco. Start using the tax money made from alcohol and tobacco for serious demand reduction and smoking cessation, not just an excuse to stuff state coffers. Same with the tobacco settlement money."Perhaps a new spirit is rising among us. If it is, let us trace its movements and pray that our own inner being may be sensitive to its guidance, for we are deeply in need of a new way beyond the darkness that seems so close around us." --MLK Jr.

I'm a bit surprised by the amount of people here (a minority, I know, but still far more than I expected) that even want things like alcohol, tobacco and caffeine to be illegal. Don't you think that that's something that people have to decide for themselves, as long as they're informed of the effects?
Personally, I definitely think that alcohol, caffeine, mushrooms, marijuana and tobacco should be legalized, but I'm not quite sure where I'd put the limit... I think crack and heroine should be definitely illegal, but I'm kind of ambivalent about LSD, cocaine, xtc and some others. But if those would be legal, I agree with loinburger's plan: (heavy) taxation and regulation.
