Because we have to put up with far more shyt in our continent and hence realise that there can't be a God if what happens here happens?

      I agree. So did Plato.

His argument went along the lines that either morals existed before God, and God merely affirmed them; or God created some random morals - in which case we could equally be stabbing and raping people right now, if only God had decreed those actions to be moral.

        our continent
since when do you consider Britain to be part of the European continent?

And like it's any better in the USA, with far higher homicide, STD, teenage pregnancy and poverty rates.

Care to show any mistakes I made? Or are you going to copy Europeans like Cybershy and continue to stick with personal attacks instead. The Puritans ran their colonies with religous laws that they weren't allowed in England.

Kind of a "Buy you books, send you to school, and what do you do, eat the teacher" situation?
Whatever that is supposed to mean it didn't come through. I get the feeling here that you think I am sort of kid. Thats strike two.

Now if you don't like what I said thats OK. But how about your try to show what was wrong in it instead this garbage your posting instead.

Can you explain the insanity that was the Salem Witch hunts in light of your claims about the Puritans wanting religious freedom? The US has religious freedom now at least in part because of the excesses the Puritans turned off the founding Fathers to the idea of official relgions.

Sava, that is without a doubt one of the best lines I've seen in quite a while. I'm gonna have to start using it.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

                  Another thing I'll point out before abandoning this latest in a long line of ignorant threads;
What is law based on ? Murder, theft, and such?
I'm sure there is no religious connection, is there ?
Ok, go back to playing with yourselves and wondering what it's for.

I have been told that the instances where the Israelites did exactly those things were moral because the Bible says Jehovah told them to do it. So I guess you have a point.

I believe that the Bible is the word of God and is to be taken literally (although the precise definition of 'literally' is up for debate).

I believe the prophecies in the Book of Revelation will come true.

Does that make me an idiot? If it does, please define your use of the word idiot.....

                        Sure.

Europe has plenty of religious people, far more then not, they are just from countries you don't like to mention, like Spain and Italy.

You godless dutchies aern't the whole show you know.

In the US its English Common Law.

                            Murder, theft, and such?
Well Jehovah did tell the Jews to do those things to people that were living where he wanted the Jews to live, at least according to the Bible.

I'm sure there is no religious connection, is there ?
Hey you got something right. Laws are set by men. For the convenience of men. We don't like being murdered so we make laws against it. No need for a religion to tell us that that getting murdered is not a good thing.

Ok, go back to playing with yourselves and wondering what it's for.
                            Run away.

The Christian Democrats just rose to power thier though. It should be interesting to see what sort of changes they bring.
