'Bears are fine' is not a reasonable trade-off.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

The overwhelming majority of carnivore attacks on humans are from domestic dogs. Wild animal attacks are just a freakish rarity

No, really, what's wrong with 'gators? They're okay as long as they ain't in the swimmin' hole, and even if they is, they're usally fairly small and you can wrassle 'em out. It's only the really big 'uns you gotta watch out fer, and you ain't gonna have those for many a year.
The problem is that there isnt much room down there where they are being put. The bears were put up in North Central Arkansas(where im from) where the national forests are. In South Arkansas there is only a fraction of availiable land to put the gators in. They are putting them in an already crowded area.

          One quote in particular

Alligators are also one of the best examples of man's ability to revive threatened wildlife populations. In Arkansas, we have a lot less alligator habitat that we did in the 1950s. But we have a lot more alligators. That proves that if we control overhunting and manage habitat right, even it it's man-made habitat, then wildlife has a chance.
And they are wanting to bring in more. We have enough I believe.
Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

I like the new avatar, very stylish.

Did anyone bother proving the bear ate the baby?

              I don't remember a trial.
