I was more referring to the pronouncing of the letter L in those words would make it hard work for Kamrat X.

    EDIT: hard fork?

One word I'd outlaw would be "sweet" -- that is, to some degree.

"I'll have the sweet and sour" -- OKAY

"Dude, this thing is sweet!" -- HUNT THIS PERSON DOWN AND PUSH OFF CLIFF

            What about Xerox.

And if we are banning uncommon words I would choose soubriquet.

I vote for rural, just because it looks like it should be a short and easily pronounceable word, but then you try to say it, and because of the 2 'r's it always comes out something like 'rrrl". Or maybe Unique.
                    I refute it thus!

all french words spoken by american english-speaking people.

                      whores dovers (h'ors doevres)
                      fax pause (faux pas)
say lah vee (c'est la vie)

                      etc.

and actually, it's not even pretty in french, either. it's an ugly language. if you french people can't say it in english, it's not worth saying it at all.

I've never heard an English person say "Fax Pause" or "Whores Dovers". If anything they know how to pronounce the words, they just can't spell them.

Suddenly has images of Del Boy speaking French.

                          Mange-tout Rodders, mange-tout.

Pronounced correctly I might add, just used inappropriately.

OK, but you made it sound like English people mispronounced the words, not southern state Americans.
