  • Well here is a newer version (there may be errors, I haven't proofread it myself yet so don't be surprised by that). Tell me what you reckon. Although I have no eye for aesthetics so advice on layout is appreciated.

    • I go down the pub a lot and play on the computer...I suppose everyone embellishes the truth a bit when it comes to that one...

      • ok i just browsed through it.

my advice would be to concretely separate it like thus:
(translating from greek but u'll get the gist)

        1) Studies (education)

        your education from highscool onward

        2) experience

your working experience on the field.

        3) epimorphossi err like seminars which you followed etc etc everything that has to do with your education/job

        4) languages
(the foreign languages u know - might not be necessairy for your field)

        5) other knmowledge (working with word and win for example - computers etc)

        6) extra curicular activitites (will get back on that one)

        7) army service done - but if its not obligatory scratch that too

keep everything from 1 to 3 lines.

        for example:

1998-2002 University of Athens Mass Communications and Media. Degree: magna cvm laude or whatever it is in latin (your GPA if its high enough)

        or

1999: Proficiency in english language. University of cambridge garde B.

        or

march. 2000- Jun 2000 Seminar on electronic mass media. Institute of bl;ah bh blah

        etc

        you get the plan

now about the extra curicular activities

        erase them

        all of them.

they are not interested in all this you write. really. and it hurts you.

        keep it short and simple

        example: reading, sweaming, music, literature

        etc
        etc

that would be my advice PH

Well anything relevent to education goes under education, I can't think of anything else that wouldn't fit under there. There are no other courses other than those listed.

          4) languages
(the foreign languages u know - might not be necessairy for your field)
A crappy bit of French, so let's not draw attention to that one

          5) other knmowledge (working with word and win for example - computers etc)
Yeah, under IT skills, not really any other random skills I could list.

          6) extra curicular activitites (will get back on that one)
Yeah, done, but I can't help it if I don't go absailing, parachuting and bungee jumping every weekend. I am just a normal bloke when it comes to what I do in my social life.

          7) army service done - but if its not obligatory scratch that too
          Irrelevent.

Well I am trying to explain who I am as well, they like to know that you do something else with your life.

          • Well any corrections are going to have to wait until tomorrow. Keep talking away, I will catch up with it all tomorrow evening...besides, I have two applications to complete then as well, so I would like this CV up and running by then.

              • yes you have already classified them more or less like that.

                some pointers though:

experience and then experience and skills isnt it rebundant? or maybe thats the way it is written in english?

also some dates would be good both for clarity and classification as well as keeping the whole thing even more tidy

                maybe a bit shorter explanations?

again, that's just my advice, nothing more.

about the extra curicular, no I REALLY think you have this wrong PH. They dont care abd it comes across a bit oddly IMO. just be precise and with little words.

i.e. i take my car and go to the countryside and meet friends etc

                can be written like:

                excursions.

simple and they dont care for you to elaborate.

                again thats just my advice.

that might be seminars u might have attended that are ourtside of your "normal university classes"

organized by your uni or another institute but which do not fall under your normal education classes. (again iof that fits then do it - u know better about what u did )
