  • What Does It Take To Get A Job?

Well the number of applications I have made must be somewhere inbetween 50 and 100, yet I still have not had any joy after about 5 months. It seems endless...and pointless...what do they want? Blood?

    Bah!

Hmmm, well I certainly don't feel that confident. All I ever seem to receive are rejections...if I am lucky...Only 4 interviews (and 2 were for fairly crappy agency jobs which I still didn't get). And I have good qualifications and a lot of experience...and they say they are screaming out for people in the biological sciences...I don't see it

The key phrase nowadays is "Social competence" in reality this means ass-kissing conformist without something as disturbing as a personality.

I know the feeling, believe me. I even started to look for a job in some other countries, which seemed to give back results, but I'm not ready for that yet.

I applied for many jobs in the field I work, but nooooo, then I started to look for less glamorous jobs. I even applied for a job as a night cleaner kind of far away from where I live. Only had to speak understandable finnish. I didn't get it . And so on and so on. Really beats you down, but I've just started to laugh about it.

I wish I knew-- I have been looking for about 3 weeks now and no luck thus far ( but the current severance offer from my old employer is at 6 months so I am not too worried)

My job search technique is mainly through networking . . . everybody I ever met is a possible contact that will get a phone call if I see the remotest chance they can help.

I am also using a recruiter and seeing where that will lead

provost, just keep the faith . I even got to a job interview not too long ago. That means to me that I am qualified for it, and they know it too, they just want to make sure I'd 'fit in' to the place. Ok, so everything was going fine and the last question was 'What is your goal with in our company? How do you see your future in here?', and I thought I'd make a joke and answered 'Your job'. It was a joke and I thought it was funny. I swear it ruined my sure shot. She looked like she got something in her throat and that was it.
